Missouri conservatives rally to Akin, blast Republican “establishment”
Reuters ^ | August 24, 2012 | Nick Carey

(Reuters) – Missouri conservatives say they are rallying around U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin despite his controversial comments about rape because they are outraged that “establishment” Republican Party leaders tried to railroad him out of the race.

A backlash has set in here in Akin’s suburban St. Louis congressional district, where supporters said the national party had no right to attempt to force out a duly-elected candidate.

Could someone please explain why he dropped 20 points after his rape comments and how he expects to beat the witch?

Pollsters know how to get the results they want. I wonder what his internals are.

Change the topic. Go on the offensive. He’s addressed his comment it’s time to move on and attack the witch based on her record and what she supports.

For the record. I would have rather he stepped down but since he won’t..

I know..that is what riled me up from the start. The way the GOPe and all of the talk shows attacked Akin, just to save their face! I’m just about ready to leave the Grand Old Party.

Sarah Palin can drag almost anyone across the finish line . . .

What happened to her queen of choice in the MO primary?

But Akin is simply not Conservative enough to meet the standard. He's not even all that clear on his RTL positions.

I think you people are all more like The Huck, and are maybe even closet liberals

You got it. The gaff Akin was so little and really amounted to nothing worth all the crap the established bunch of conservative talk show nuts jumped on. Akin is a very creditable conservative and to skewer him is not only foolish but these conservatives, including Rush, was damn wrong. Lose him in the Senate and it is a real loss.

That's how the GOPe does it: if you run third party, you're a splitter. Anyone who votes third party needs to quit wasting their vote and hang with the party, so go with the man that the party has picked. Now we have a guy representing the Party itself—a conservative who happens to be in the slot the RNC would rather have filled by a GOPe candidate—and the Party abandons him over the sort of gaffe your average lib' Dem' makes routinely.

It's the the sort of brain-dead maneiver that simply confirms the the RNC is simply DNC-lite.

Sarah had earlier endorsed a different candidate in the Republican primaries. it appears she was right in NOT endorsing this guy.

He only dropped 13 points. If you were bashed by your opponents and your own party for a week your numbers would drop as well.

When all those who have been bashing him and want to beat the witch come to their senses his numbers will go back up.

....and donate, donate DONATE!!!!!! We need to get behind this man!

Ha! I did, yesterday, right after his press conference where he announced he was not going to quit. I didn't contribute before that because I fully expected him to eventually back down, cave in, and quit, because after all he IS a Republican. I hate contributing to a candidate only to have them quit early in the fight. This guy is not acting like your typical gutless Republican though, he is not backing down and is still standing.

In short, the Party will abandon you at the drop of a hat for the sake of its own convenience. But if _you_ abandon the Party...!

You needn’t worry so much. Even if Akin wins, there’ll be enough baby-hating pro-aborts in office to keep you happy.

The Republican Party isn’t going to do anything to stop the killing, so no need for you to think about switching to a third party.

same here. I’m fed up with the likes of Hannity, Rove and their elitist esbalishment types thinking we have to do what they say, how social conservative issues are off limits and hand that issue over to the left, so what if they want homosexuals to marry or serve, they say well piss off Hannity , Coulter etc.

I couldn’t careless about their elitist cocktail estbalishment types, I don;t ever listen to their radio show, or watch them lot on TV, I couldn;t carelss about pissing off your pals like Beckel either.

After how the estbalishment fought tooth and nail against Newt , Sarah etc then I vote for who I want and not who they tell me

Akin was being a “Mr Know-it-all” and continued to elaborate on a subject he didn’t know enough about.

And just what part is he 'wrong' about ?

HOW MANY females who are LEGITIMATELY RAPED get pregnant ?

How many times have women had consensual sex and once pregnant, claimed rape to hide the truth from parents and friends ?

how about the Dem having sex with a kid at a rest stop, funny how the GOP does not mention this but they can fight our own side like mad.

Dems stick with their own the GOP are too quick to attack our own and the media laps it all up.

As a Missourian, here’s my take on why he dropped 20 points:

Almost 60% of GOP and Conservative Missourians, like myself, voted for the other two candidates on the Republican ticket, Bruner (30%) and Steelman (29.2%), in the primaries.

Many of those voters, unlike myself, are sore losers. When those voters were polled, they saw a chance to force Akin out of the race and get a Mulligan for their candidate by lying to the pollsters to skew the data. The thinking being that once Akin saw the results, he would drop out.

Now that Akin has reiterated his determination not to drop out of the race, reality has/will set in and those sore losers will either not vote (doubt it) or buck up and cast their vote for Akin (more than likely).

Don’t get me wrong, it’s going to be a tight race. McCaskill has been salivating at the chance to run against Akin for quite some time, now.

She even ran adds on television saying that Akin was “too Conservative for Missouri.”

When a candidate starts helping out their opponent like that, you just know there’s an “October Surprise” right around the corner...

Anyway, those are my observations from the front line in Missouri.

Cheers

There is no where to go buddy.

He dropped 20 pts, but as has already been reported he is now down 9.

Akin will ride this thing out and win.

The little sissies that run and hide from the progressive thugs every time someone speaks out of line from the political correctness manual are the problem. Not the social conservatives.

This is a lesson to conservatives. The self proclaimed fiscal ‘conservatives’ are more aligned with the progressives than with us. Witness the last 4 days.

A social conservative would never (okay never say never but the % is very small) vote with the progressives for progressive economic policies.

Do you think for a moment though that the self proclaimed fiscal ‘conservatives’ would hesitate to vote with the progressives for social issues?

The destruction of our civilization is manifesting itself in the crisis that is economic collapse. This is the tip of the iceberg, the so-called canary in the mine. The real destructive force working against our Nation is the cheapening of human life, the coarsening of Civil Society and the philosophy of Moral Equivalency.

Satan laughing spreads his wings.

Can you imagine Romney carrying Akin on his back for the next 88 days?

Nobody could be that dumb. Romney was smart to cut him off on Day 1.

I have been watching Akin in his public appearances recently and he seems like he is from another world. God is telling him to stay in the race, as a matter of principle. What principle? He backtracked and said he “mispoke”. Even Michelle Bachmann won’t support Akin.

What’s the next move? Write-in candidate?

repeatedly apologizing for his 'magic womb' idiocy

SO... what you are saying (see how this works?) is that EVERY TIME a man has sex with a woman, it results in pregnancy ?

He dropped 20 points because he isn't running the polls. When Chick-fil-a got railroaded a couple of weeks ago because homos didn't like Dan Cathy's position on marriage all the news outlets and polls said Chick-fil-a was going down. Ha.

The only poll that counts is the one on November 6th. We'll see then if Missourians believe the partisan polling outlets. I personally think they are smarter than that. Anyone with a brain knows Akin is not to blame for all the problems obama has caused while his opponent, Claire McCaskill, is one of obama's bed fellows.

Americans like me are tired of all the bs. This is why candidates like Ted Cruz, Akin and others of their stripe are being soundly elected.

JMHO
