The anti-Obama documentary based on Dinesh DSouzas book The Roots of Obamas Rage expanded nationwide on Friday with early first-place showings in the domestic box office rankings, Deadline Hollywood reports.
As of late Friday afternoon, 2016: Obama's America had grossed $700,000 from 1,090 theaters. That compared with $300,000 for the new big-budget, Sylvester Stallone action flick The Expendables 2, which is playing in 3,355 theaters, Deadline Hollywood reports.

Finished 4th for Friday, per BoxOffice Mojo.
Produced by Gerald R. Molen, who has a very impressive pedigree (Schindler's List, Twister, Jurassic Park, among many others...)
Newmax probably shouldn’t be making up numbers, especially not in the internet age when the real numbers are so easy to find.

Expendables $3.8 million Friday, 2016 $2.25 million. The numbers are actually very good, no reason for fiction.
It’s interesting how good the viewers’ reviews have been so far. People seem to genuinely like this documentary.
On one website, a conservative said he took four or five Obama voters (friends of his I think) to the movie, and paid for their tickets. Afterwards, they went somewhere and discussed the movie. He seemed to think it significantly changed the way they looked at Obama.
If this movie is capable of changing minds, it could be a very big deal, and be much more than just another “preaching to the choir” production.
From reading movie reviewing sites, it appears the pros expect the viewership to peak early (due to the advance sales) and then tail off fairly rapidly, but they are surprised that it’s exceeding their earlier expectations.
It came in at 3rd place Friday, Aug 24th and was only being shown on about one third of the number of screens that the 1st and 2nd place movies were shown on.
This is going to be one where word of mouth makes a huge difference, I suspect. Haven’t seen it myself yet though.

When I see “Newsmax” is the source of any story, I usually don’t even bother to read it, even though I’m hoping most of their headlines are true. They just have a very difficult time dealing with facts and so most of what you end up reading there is pure propaganda. Granted it’s “our” propaganda, but still...
My husband and I went today.
Theatre 1/2 full maybe, but It was at Potomac Mills in No. Va.
I was surprised there were that many people! Shouts of “GO ROMNEY” at the end.
I went to see 2016, Obama's America movie this afternoon. All I can say is GO SEE IT!!! I thought I knew everything about Obama, but this documentary really gets to the meat of not only what he believes but why. It was very well done - nothing like Michael Moore's so-called documentary on global warming that was full of false claims. No one can argue with the FACTS in this one.
I'm going to pray for this movie to catch on fire with ticket sales so that more people will want to go see it and will spread the word - and hope you will do the same. I hear that it is opening in many more theaters so most of you should be able to find it. On the way out, I heard someone say that it is supposed to be released on video sometime in October and hope it's true!
What perfect timing for independents & democRATS to watch it if they are on the fence - trying to decide between Obama & Romney. If they don't want to be seen going into a theater to see the movie - they can always rent it! I plan to buy a copy when it does come out because it needs to be passed on to generations (if we can survive by beating him in Nov - that is).
We were so happy that it was shown in the largest of their theaters at Edwards Marq'E Stadium in Houston - and it was PACKED!!! At the end of the movie, everyone applauded! It will get your attention like no other movie you've ever seen. May God bless Dinesh D'Souza!
Go see it

Dinesh D’Souza behaved like a nasty little turd when he and Robert Spencer had a run in a few years ago.
Just got back from the movie - wow.
Very good movie. Not negative in tone whatsoever but chilling.
My cousin and I drove 40 miles to the next county to catch
the 12:45pm showing. I saw our own county sheriff in the
theater lobby before the start and we had a short chat-up.
He said he would liked to have seen a few Obama bumper
stickers in the parking lot because those folks are the ones
who really need to see the movie.
I hope that everyone gets to see the movie but, frankly,
even though I didn’t read the D’Souza book there was
not a lot of info which I wasn’t already familiar with.
It makes me wonder if I need to get a life outside of
political wonkery.
I would say the majority of the audience when I saw it yesterday was definitely 40+ and there looked to be a good amount of Seniors - which is great.
It is a fact that Seniors vote. They love our country and are really alarmed at what Obama, the DemocRATS and RINO’s have done to nearly destroy it. We need to tell everyone we know about it and try to keep the box office numbers sky high.
Our new GOP Senate candidate, Ted Cruz, and Tea Party favorite, has a great quote. Cruz doesn’t give Obama credit for much - but he does thank the president for inspiring a new wave of conservatives. “The most long-lasting legacy of Barack Obama is going to be a new generation of leaders in the Republican Party.”
Too bad fandango doesn’t take their own poll. You have to vote on facebook - which is nonsense for those of us that don’t want to be on facebook.
And I promise you the majority of the droves of seniors seeing this documentary don’t ‘facebook’ either. So their numbers are flawed from the get-go.
Box Office Mojo ‘estimates’ place ‘2016’ at #8 for the weekend with a draw of just over $6.2 million. There MAY be a few changes when the FINAL figures are released late on Monday. ‘2016’ did have the highest per screen average of ANY movie in the top 15, so it is ‘#1’ from that perspective. Still; very competitive for a documentary showing on just over 1000 screens. Congratulations to all involved in the production of this feature...well done.
Just what I thought...FINAL figures for weekend box office tallies were just posted, and it appears that they ‘underestimated’ 2016’s Sunday figures. An ‘extra’ $300,000 bounces ‘2016’ up to a seventh-place finish; ahead of ALL THREE new releases. ‘2016’ also put up nearly $6,000 per screen...the libs are going to go absolutely nuts.
