Embattled Senate candidate Todd Akin just told reporters in Chesterfield that he is staying in the Senate race against Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill.
Akin repeated the kinds of statements he'd made previously to national media, asserting that he's never had the support of the Republican party establishment anyway. [...]

I are grateful, too.
Social conservatives actually understand conservatism. There really is no other kind. Just because someone likes their accounts to balance on the fiscal side doesn’t make them a conservative, in my view.
Conservatism is about preserving the valuable and not jettisoning it willy-nilly because some ideological or behavioral fad comes along with glitter and attractiveness purporting to have the answers to life.

Wat r u doing up this late?
I'm watching a documentary on Bonhoeffer on Netflix. What's your excuse?
Do not advocate for abortion on this pro-life forum. You can take that elsewhere.
Aw, geez, what a tool.... As a matter of fact, Akin has handed himself over to the Left and become their willing tool to attack the GOP. Well done, dude. You betcha.
The *only* silver lining I see here is that while the Left is now jumping on the “keep abortion legal” bandwagon with everything they have ... with any luck, maybe by October everyone with a brain will be sick of this debate, and will get back to the actual #1 and #2 issues of our day: the economy and the preservation of our Constitution.
Your real excuse is that you are left coast time zone and it’s only midnight.
My excuse is I was watching something about 7 or so, sitting minding my own business in a big ol comfy chair, and I nodded off. Woke up somewhere around 1 am and did the toss and turn, pretend to sleep thing, and decided it was useless.
I said to self, “Self, read the internet on your cell phone since you’re just lying here; maybe that will get your eyes tired.” Turned to do that and my glasses weren’t in my glass case. Found them on top of my computer. The rest is history.

Weve seen this before a candidate makes nonsensical, controversial, or self-destructive statements before the electorate, and the electorate recoils. The rest of the GOP sees signs of trouble, and starts expressing those concerns in increasing volume, but the candidate resists the urge to withdraw from the race. The candidate and the campaign insist to the rest of the party that they know what theyre doing, that the race is still winnable, and that the world will soon be shocked by a most unexpected victory. We saw it from Katherine Harris in 2006, and from Christine ODonnell, Sharron Angle, and Carl Paladino in 2010.

Akin Loves Bacon!!
Yep, your pic says it all. However, libs don’t care. My lib secretary is Still in Love with Clinton. When I asked her about Clinton and his impeachment, her reply was simply, OK, so what. You just can’t fix stupid.
Todd Akin is running for the U.S. Senate not a pickup basketball game! Follow whose orders? What chain of command? Show it to me? Start first with the U.S Constitution. Who orders who can run for office? If it is the voters then in this case they have spoken in the only forum put forward in the Constitution - an election! You want the mob to overrule an election? An elected representative in suppose to act as an individual person not a herd animal. I want you to think about what the following word means to you in the World you out line in your post. Liberty
Notice how a lot of posters with “born on” dates of 2009-2012 back Todd Akin? Not implying anything, of course...
This is Akin's mess. STOP BLAMING OTHERS.
Since you believe Akin will lose anyway, why not try someone else? What evidence do you have a winning campaign can't be mounted? Just removing Akin and putting in a fresh candidate could be enough. Obviously, the sooner that happens the better but Akin's pig-headed enough to push towards the Sept. 25 deadline.
I saw you're too dismissive of the alternative.
Akin is not at all worth fighting for. HE did the work against himself for the DNC. Akin and Akin alone.
He's betrayed conservatives, he's betrayed the pro-life movement, he's betrayed his party, he's betrayed his voters, he's betrayed his supporters and he's betraying his country.
He may become infamous in election history.
Support for Akin is incidental and contingent entirely on whether or not he's the candidate on the ballot in November.
There's still a month to go where Akin maybe be convinced to give up his death grip on power and step aside for a better candidate.
I believe Akin shouldn't see any support until we really are 'stuck' with him as the only alternative to McCaskill. He should be discouraged at every turn during the next four weeks in my view.
I've certainly taken notice. Too many were "born" only in the past month.
He he wins he and his supporters will be able to claim they earned their victory without the help of the GOPe and the RINOs. They will own that victory.
If he loses to Claire and loses that Senate seat, he and his supporters (and them alone) will own that defeat and their reputation will forever be in the same category as Bob Dole, Mark Foley and Dan Quayle. They will own that defeat and the national results around it.
I don’t advocate abortion at all. I advocate Freedom. I also understand what you’re saying.
NO, it does not!
Right now you have a choice.
You can beat the real opposition whose name is Claire McCaskill and prove to the GOP Establishment that they are no longer relevent.
Or
You can lose to Claire McCaskill and become the laughing stock of the Republican Party.
It's a clear choice and the only one.
Stop comparing Akin to Sarah Palin. There IS a Republican Establishment and they DO try to sandbag our candidates and your falsely connecting Akin to be just another victim of the GOPe hurts the credibility of those Conservatives like Sarah Palin who really have been sandbagged by the GOPe.
Akin is the victim of his own words. He admitted that by apologizing.
So far the only people Akin's supporters have been attacking have been other conservatives. Abosolutely nothing negative about his "opponent" Claire McCaskill. She's never even mentioned.
Emperor Palpatine If Akin beats her (which most doubt he can) he and his supporters will be able to claim they did it without the help of the GOP and the RINOs. It will be his victory and only his.
But if Akin loses to Claire McCaskill and/or Romney loses Missiouri and the general election, Akin and his supporters will own that defeat.
That's not only politics but taking responsibility is part of Conservatism. Man up!
Akin is not going to leave this race, and I expect alllll his supporters across this nation to send him money now.
Defeat Claire, send her back to her nursing home empire to pass out ‘pills instead of procedures’.... make her be her brother's keeper!!!!! Repeal Oromery care.
You’re in MO, and I respect and admire your thinking and attitude in this very sorry Akin matter.
GOOD ON YOU!
One of my Missouri friends called me back last evening. He has recanted. He said he’s still pissed at Akin but he had decided to go ahead and vote for him because he can’t stand McCaskill. It’s still 72 days until Election Day. Akin dude just might pull it out. Damn, that would be the shock wave felt ‘round the world.
