Embattled Senate candidate Todd Akin just told reporters in Chesterfield that he is staying in the Senate race against Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill.
Akin repeated the kinds of statements he'd made previously to national media, asserting that he's never had the support of the Republican party establishment anyway. [...]

He;s such a doorknob... I’ll vote for him too, but ain’t gunna be seen with his bumper sticker, no way... If I per-chance get to see him I’ll be calling him Doorknob, or Dumbass or something...
"You seem to believe in magic words that can create a child."
Intent matters. God granted the parents the sovereignty of right of when to create and recognize when they have a child and to both He granted sovereignty of will, including over there own bodies. He granted no one else the power or justification to interfere with His gifts to them.
The magic words, "this is my child" are fundamental. You don't have the right force what is almost entirely mother, to be simply your surrogate to nurture an unwanted and forced pregnancy.
Hopefully we’ll keep the senate without him. Just hope Romney doesn’t lose Missouri (and the election) because of this kerfuffle.
I’d like to be the first to congratulate Sen. McCaskill on her re-election.
Looked like there was no chance for her, but we apparently underestimated the sheer idiocy of some in the GOP.

Yes, they recognize a reality - they don't alter reality by their "designations." The nature of who they create is an objective fact.
Their intent and what they say is an objective fact. What you say about embryos that contradicts them is subjective.
But if I say something about embryos that supports them, that's not subjective? You're babbling.
The nature of the embryo is at least as objective as their intent and statements. They can no more make a non-child a child or vice versa through intent or statements than they can make a dog a cat or vice versa through intent or statements.
Amen.
"The nature of the embryo is at least as objective as their intent and statements."
The embryo, or slightly thereafter is not a person until they announce that it is. Otherwise it is human life only insofar as every other cell in a human organism is. Personhood is a concept, not a biological characteristic. The decision regarding personhood belongs to the parents, until such time that the concept of effective contraception is no longer a valid.
>> A question, FRiend: any good L websites out there?
Not sure, don’t look for them.
Here’s why I describe myself, and often profile as, a Conservative Libertarian.
My antiquated sense of Conservatism is at odds with the contemporary views of Conservatism that embrace statism. This is the key factor that puts me in proximity of Libertarians. For example, although I’m not a drug user, I’m not favorable of the drug war and the cost of regulation. I’m against the state control of marriage, but I fully support the tenets of tradition and religion that requires one man, one woman. I’m Pro-Life but concerned about the method of enforcement notwithstanding my apathy for abortionists. I don’t have an isolationist view on foreign policy which sets me apart from many Libertarians. So because of these views, and others such as supporting Israel, I don’t necessarily play well with other Libertarians. I think Ron Paul is an asset to Conservatism despite his wacky views on foreign policy.
I hang out here primarily because of the Conservative by-laws, and the architecture of the website.
BTW, this Akin thing is off the wall. It seems I have a minority view on the situation, but so be it.
Cool post JR.
In post #211, I claimed to be in the minority. I guess we’re in good company.

Out of line, Hecht.
If you said that about Claire McCaskill I'd call you out for making offensive and unfounded comments that make Republicans look bad.
In Akin’s case, you are factually wrong in addition to highly offensive. He has six children. He married his wife in 1975 and in the 37 years of their marriage has had six children.
Why are you implying that a fellow conservative Republican is a homosexual pedophile?
Also, I'm not particularly fond of Ivy League educations, but Akin’s father and grandfather were both Harvard graduates and the family owned a steel company in St. Louis. That's not “barefoot inbred trailer trash,” as you put it.
Attack Akin for his stupid comment all you want. I've done so repeatedly. But don't circulate factually false claims.
Do you have a problem with reading comprehension?
I am strongly pro-life, but that’s not my main issue. I’ve stated this repeatedly.
Akin is far from innocent. he’s an egotistical narcissist who’s putting himself ahead of the nation and taking the senate back....which is ALL that matters.
And he’s so deluded that he believes God actually is telling him to do this.
I am quite a bit more conservative than Todd Akin theologically, but it looks to me as if this is a man who wasn't particularly liked by the mainstream Republican establishment and they're now trying to push him out.
Akin blew it, big time. No question about that. The only question left is what do we do now that he won't leave on his own. I don't think there's any answer to that question that doesn't involve Akin which won't lead to a McCaskill re-election.

Its like any business, the military, ANy organization.....
There is a chain of command that issues orders.
The grunts follow those orders. That’s the way its always been and it works. I see no need to change it now.
What? Got a problem with teamwork? Never played sports on a team?
or were you the one they never picked because you threw and ran like a GURL?
Akin is guilty of insubordination as well as general stupidity.
I think there's plenty of us who didn't buy the BS that the R-GOPe party was selling about the Akin issue.
Yeah, that comment was so offensive I didn’t even respond. But to add to yours, three of the Akin’s sons serve as Marine Corps officers too.
