is this the end?
Or to say you're staying in. He's getting more support lately - Huckabee, the conference in Florida. He's raised some money this week. He'll probably see this as a sign from the Almighty to stay in and continue the good fight.
Like it or not, I think Akin is in this to the bitter end. But he has to do it on his own. The national party has backed themselves into a corner. If Romney/Ryan, Rove and the GOP leadership reverse themselves and begin supporting Akin again then they'll be trying to explain away their hypocrisy for the rest of the campaign.
Definitely more an American than the Kenyan.
Not foolish at all, if you are a liberal plant intended to suck the oxygen out of the race every time Mitt steadies up.
Akin is one of the most conservative members of Congress, more socially conservative than Romney and more fiscally conservative than even Ryan. ....Its one gaffe in a long, successful career standing up for conservatism against the Dems and the RINOs.”
AND NOT ONE DAMN BIT OF THAT MATTERS NOW....
If there is one thing that drives me nuts about Freepers, its how many discount the POWER OF PROPAGANDA.
The meme is SET, this dude has been PALINIZED, and the Mainstream media is giving the Democrats mIllions and millions of dollars in free air-time pimping the meme to the sheep, making Akin a NATIONAL ISSUE.
Just because WE are smart enough not to fall for it, because we are informed, doesnt mean that the vast Majority of the sheeple who get their primary news from the Alphabet evening news shows, or Comedy Central are.
* Weekend News Cycle.
* 2nd, he is gone before the Convention....
Yeah it was Romney who legitimately raped the Missouri senate race.
You people cannot take any responsibility at all towards Akin's blunders.
You guys remind me of the Clinton defenders in the late 90's.
I am hoping that he swaps with the Ann Wagner, who is the GOP candidate for Akin’s old congressional seat.
Wagner is the Senate candidate and Akin runs for his old seat.
Win-win for everyone.
+1
I don’t think that can legally be done. He didn’t run for that primary.
“Why does he need a press conference to say hes staying in the race?”
Because he is desperate to raise campaign funds. He will spin that he is ahead of his fund raising goals because he raised a few bucks at that diehard evangelical meeting Wednesday without mentioning the RNC and Republican PACs pulled 10 million in proposed spending on him and further pulled GOTV efforts on his behalf. McCaskill has 12 million in the bank to batter this guy with ads and he will be lucky to raise enough to post a few ads in a pennysaver next to the supermarket coupons.
Good!
I wish the party could expel him from the planet.
I just spoke with a person that worked on Todd’s campaign here in Missouri. That person could not believe Todd said what he said. He agreed that Todd’s goose is cooked. His name will forever be associated with this stupid “legitimate rape” statement he made. Todd is finished in the Republican party, and just needs to take his engineering degree and fade into the sunset!
Because Akin is full of himself.
But on a Friday? Fridays are for bad news.. things you want to go unnoticed...
If he wants maximum exposure why not wait until Monday? When the news cycle has an entire week to stew on what he says.
Akin is now the cause and source of all liberal propaganda? Get real. That was coming at us no matter what. Snuffaluppagus didn't need a Republican to say anything for him to ask about banning birth control in the debates. Republicans need to have answers for the propaganda or better yet go on offense AGAINST THE DEMOCRATS, not one of their own. Tons of air time has been sucked away by the Republicans creating an internal battle. That's not propaganda, it's a huge story Romney and the RNC created that is incredibly juicy and which the media can't ignore. Accept Akin's apology, say his remarks were stupid, say you're giving him a second chance, restore his funding and move on to attacking the Democrats.
That last line you wrote could describe many of Akin’s moronic supporters, too.
I’d be curious to know how many people are actually working on that staff other than family at this point...
