There was a time, this year, when I was rooting for Rick Santorum during the GOP Primary season. Then, he began to make statements that made me nervous. (Most of them, I worked hard at forgetting.) Since this "Todd Aikin thing", I've begun to wonder if we didn't doge a bullet by not nominating Santorum, who for all practical purposes, came in Second Place. I feared that if he got the nomination he would have a "Macaca/Legitimate rape" moment. To me, he and Aikin seem to be of the same ilk. Dunno.....just thinking out loud. Wonder if we didn't dodge a bullet?
“I miss Newt”
No. Santorum got a worse reception than he would have if Newt hadn’t been the forum’s first choice. But Santorum was running a strong second in spite of the efforts of the DNC, the press, and—I’m sorry to say, Mitt Romney, Drudge, and the whole Republican establishment.
The primary lie was that Santorum would try to force everyone to follow his Christian beliefs. That was a lie. He would hold up Christian morality as a model to follow, but he NEVER indicated that he would push it on anyone.
Romney, on the other hand, is perfectly happy to force gay marriage and taxpayer-funded abortion on us. It doesn’t bother him a bit.
We don’t need an enforcer in the White House, we need a model of decency in the White House.
Incidentally, the press and the propaganda dealers killed Rick Santorum, but in spite of all their efforts he came a close second behind Romney, and probably would have won if not for Newt’s vote splitting and the lies of Matt Drudge and the rest of them.
As for you, I’ve noticed that you do a lot of trolling here in the forum.
I didn't know the election was over. I guess Romney won?
The dodged bullet (or doged bullet) went on to extinguish a unique innocent life. Oh well, as long as you feel better!
If one rightly believes abortion is murder, then it IS murder always. If a person believes in exceptions, then their position is not valid. The “exception argument” is purposely used by the murder advocates to stir up emotions in weak willed persons.
Akin stumbled over his tongue because he was trying to be PC, which is more of a statement about our moronic society than it is about Akin.
Agreed.
Sorry I even took the time to post on it.
1) Normal supporters who believed in him and once they saw who he really was or that he could not win went on to support another candidate.
2) Non-legit Sanotorum supporters who were really Romney supporters but were afraid to admit it. (they feared getting zotted from some of the conservative forums.
3) Today's Akin supports. Many in this group have an ego about the same size. An ego so big that they are willing to allow Obama's infanticide to become law of the land to teach the GOPe a lesson. Their candidate (Akin) was funded and still supported by the pro-abortortionist democrats. This group is so angry with the GOPe for Santorum's loss that they have the goal of pushing for an Obama victory so that they can say to the GOPe: "we told you so".
*to this day the third group (who supports Akin today) refuses to accept the fact that Santorum was in the bag for their enemy Mitt Romney all along.
**today they refuse to accept that Akin is supported by the very people they supposedly oppose.
Definition of insanity, please?
Note: Unfortunately they (group 3) have been outed and pegged for who they really are. And unfortunately we can no longer blame the RINOs for any defeat in 2012. This group #3 now owns that pending defeat. They make us conservatives look bad.
Pro-abortion, homo troll
Get off my computer screen
Are you having fun trolling? I sure hope so, because I’m having fun laughing at you.
The short and simple answer is YES, the party dodged a Huge Bullet by not having Santorum as the nominee. No matter how much that causes some folks here to scream bloody murder its the truth.
Santorum didn’t lose his Senate seat by 17 points for no reason. Just go youtube the guy you can find inflamatory statement after inflamatory statement coming out of his mouth. Yes, when taken in full oontext most are not that bad, but its not the full context that gets played, its the inflamatory sound bite that gets played over and over 24/7 in attack ads etc.
Arrant nonsense disguised as precise analysis. What you wrote is nonsense.
We may have dodged a bullet in the primary but the one named Mitt Romney hit us square in the chest.
The risk of a “Macaca/Legitimate rape” moment is inversely proportional to the conservative principles of the candidate.
Romney does not get too emotional about Obama's attacks, but instead he and his team coolly and calmly plan and implement their rebuttals and counter-attacks against the Obama campaign. Romney has a very strong, positive, disciplined mind and he's a great counter-puncher against the extremely negative Obama campaign. Obama's campaign relies mainly on distortions and half-truths, and Romney just doesn't get too bothered by Obama's nasty campaign. Instead Romney counter-punches effectively and stays with a disciplined plan that started in January and goes all the way to election day. Newt is also mentally tough and a great counter-puncher, but I think he just has too much personal baggage to win a Presidential campaign. So like him or not, Mitt Romney is the strongest GOP candidate to run in this election against Obama.
He [Santorum] hardly ever seems fired up himself, so it is hard for anyone else to get fired up about him.To quote John McEnroe, "You must be joking." :) He was so fired up there was an issue in that regard (his wife had to tell him to "cool it") as he was coming across as a loose cannon, which he somewhat is. That being said, Rick wasn't perfect, but he would have been IMO about 100% better than Romney. Rick had (and still has) a great deal of prayers said for him too; I won't be surprised to see great things from him now and in the future.
Obama would likely be up +10 nationally against Santorum, or Gingrich, right now.
well said
