Although President Obama's current defense cuts are so drastic that even Rep. Nancy Pelosi is scared they might cost Democrats more seats in the House, State Dept. advisers are reportedly encouraging further cuts and even the all-out elimination of the U.S. nuclear arsenal.
A State Dept. report addressing this issue justifies the suggestion on the grounds that possessing nuclear weapons drives other nations to "acquisition and/or use of nuclear weapons."
In other words, as long as nations like the U.S., Israel, and Russia have nukes but rogue nations like Iran and North Korea don't Iran and North Korea will continually pursue them with a willingness to use them. Yet if we get rid of ours, they will stop the pursuit of theirs... and everybody can hug and get along, naturally.
Explaining away Iran's nuclear ambitions by saying they only want such weapons because we have them is childish and irrational.

Well, it has reached critical mass now.
It’s either them or us, and I choose us.
“We may have conventional weapons online that make typical nuclear weaponry a little dated.”
Not at all. Conventional weapons are conventional and are localized. The destruction and devastation of a nuclear weapon is so far and ahead of anything “conventional.”
Your friend in Raytheon, good guy I am sure, but what your friend “knows” has nothing to do with nukes or other WMD (CNB) weapons. Raytheon isn’t into large-scale weapons and therefore, he doesn’t know WMD.
The stuff you are talking about is all sci-fi stuff. R&D in those areas and related areas are on-going, and have been for decades and decades and decades, but we don’t have that sort of stuff—not even close.
Besides, again, Raytheon isn’t into that world and your friend has no access to those programs as Rayteon doesn’t work them and he would not be briefed on them. Want to talk SBD or A/A missiles, or tactical munitions, sure, your friend is into that. But those “sci-fi” systems, no way.
Cheers.
...So today, I state clearly and with conviction America's commitment to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons. (Applause.) I'm not naive. This goal will not be reached quickly --perhaps not in my lifetime. It will take patience and persistence. But now we, too, must ignore the voices who tell us that the world cannot change. We have to insist, "Yes, we can."Now, let me describe to you the trajectory we need to be on. First, the United States will take concrete steps towards a world without nuclear weapons. To put an end to Cold War thinking, we will reduce the role of nuclear weapons in our national security strategy, and urge others to do the same.
Communist Goals
#3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the US would be a demonstration of "moral strength."
Straight from the Peanuts Carter playbook.
“If we’re good everyone else will be good.”
Someone needs to clue these idiots in, turning the other cheek didn’t stop you from getting the hell knocked out of you the first time, it just means your going to get hit twice.
We can have Peace in our Time!
He never said it was Raytheon weaponry. He may have, by virtue of 35 years in Defense contracting, many associates in other areas of the business. Just like I am in Oil, Gas, Mining and Municipal water, I have many associates in cryogenics and rocketry. Just the nature of being in industries that tend to cross contaminate at national conventions, seminars and other “cocktail” events.
The most worrisome aspect about this is how little influence a change of administrations has upon the careerists of the US State Department aka “Foggy Bottom”. They are appeasers, real-politik types who see everything in terms of negotiating and moral equivalency. I remember them being tied in knots about the shape of the peace table in the negotiations to end our involvement in the Vietnam War. It is the type of person who is attracted to this work so I am not sure that there is any ultimate answer to it or idiot statements like this!
Careerists should be moved to offices with no telephones, no computers and no duties. Maybe we’ll get an administration that can see the logic in doing this.
Lots of us think elite liberals are nuts.
The minute we have no nuclear defense, is the minute someone will turn this country into a nuclear wasteland. This doesn’t surprise me at all, theirs a reason America isn’t mentioned when it comes to end-times prophecy.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Well, yes!
Once the Imperialist running dogs are disarmed the peaceful socialists can lead the world to an enlightened, world-wide, property-free existence. No God or liberty to mess things up either!

When/if we ever gain some sort of pro-American control of government again, we probably need to clean house in the bureaucracies. Loyalty oaths and anti-Communist declarations might be a good place to start.
And who is the Secretary of State? Hillary. This position paper belongs to her -- whether she wants it or not.
When we dump all our nukes the rest of the world will leap into a mad scramble to nuke up as the one source of protection against one country attacking another will have removed itself from that responsibility, and probably from history. Without nukes the USA will be nuked. It will pay for even Iran to lob a couple at New York and New Orleans.
Gary Samore - WMD Policy Czar
Former US Communist. Wants US to destroy all WMD unilaterally as a show of good faith. Has no other "policy"
The level of stupidity has now hit an all time high.
What on earth makes you think it’s stupidity? It’s called “Hating the USA and siding with Commies and Muzzies and weakening the US so it will be powerless in the face of attack and have no power in the world.” It’s crystal clear.
