Fear of a Black President

The irony of President Barack Obama is best captured in his comments on the death of Trayvon Martin, and the ensuing fray. Obama has pitched his presidency as a monument to moderation. He peppers his speeches with nods to ideas originally held by conservatives. He routinely cites Ronald Reagan. He effusively praises the enduring wisdom of the American people, and believes that the height of insight lies in the town square. Despite his sloganeering for change and progress, Obama is a conservative revolutionary, and nowhere is his conservative character revealed more than in the very sphere where he holds singular gravityrace.
Part of that conservatism about race has been reflected in his reticence: for most of his term in office, Obama has declined to talk about the ways in which race complicates the American present and, in particular, his own presidency. But then, last February, George Zimmerman, a 28-year-old insurance underwriter, shot and killed a black teenager, Trayvon Martin, in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman, armed with a 9 mm handgun, believed himself to be tracking the movements of a possible intruder. The possible intruder turned out to be a boy in a hoodie, bearing nothing but candy and iced tea.

POTUS has a fear:No. The fear the birth certficate shows his father as not a US citizen and that Obama is not a natural born citizen , and not eligible to be president.

What a truck load of Horse Hockey! Yeah, Obama may ‘pepper’ his speeches with conservative TALK, and mention Ronald Reagan from time to time, but his ACTIONS speak louder than his words. He’s a liberal fascist, and it doesn’t matter in which color that ideology is packaged.

Again, anyone asserting that opposition to 0bama is because of his skin color would have to also assert that
1) we’d be OK with his policies if he were white
2) we’d not be OK with a conservative black president such as those people that you mentioned.
Absurd

Interesting that fascism, by definition, includes the aspect of racial superiority.
0bama’s policies inherently, but not especially overtly, are racist in that those who are punished are disproportionately white and those who benefit are disproportionally black.

Sorry, Ta-Nehisi, but your Race Card, already well over it’s limit, has been declined.

http://www.sacred-destinations.com/turkey/istanbul-blue-mosque,p>I can't find the particular pic I saw but these have a little of the flavor. The one I had seen had 5 or 6 men standing together, all their faces showing at a similar angle. It struck me then that if someone had asked a Turk who is unfamiliar with Mr. Obama to pick out which one was the non- Turk he could only have narrowed it down to the two or three not wearing fez because of the fact of not having their heads covered.

>>>Interesting that fascism, by definition, includes the aspect of racial superiority.<<<
Please allow me to disagree with you about this.
Fascism is centered on the idea that the state is supreme. The ways in which that supremacy is expressed depends on the culture. Mussolini didn’t care about race, although he was an Italian partisan. Still, he didn’t hunt down the Jews. Hitler was obsessed with race. Not so with Franco, Peron, or Salazar. In that regard, the fascists were non-ideological, but usually nationalist. Whatever worked to maintain the power of the state was used, and that meant different forms of totalitarian rule in different places. In many places, it meant that capitalism was allowed to continue, as long as it supported the state; in some places, the church was allowed to continue, too. In that regard, fascism is closely related to communism, although the communists tended towards an international perspective and an ideological slant in their application of state supremacy.
I’d say Obama acts fascist in that he wants to establish state supremacy while allowing some to survive and some to perish, based on whatever best helps bolster state power. Like the Mussolinis and the Hitlers, he uses communist beliefs and ideology in the service of accumulating power.
Personally, I like Levin’s term “statist” as a better description for those who seek an omnipotent government. Fascist, communist, totalitarian, dictatorship... all of it can be covered better by Levin’s term for the thing.

“But Obama is not descended from American slaves and didn’t experience growing up among American descendents of slaves, and is not an American black sharing the cultural memory of American blacks.”
We are certainly in full agreement here.

When the stink from this administration clears we can hope that people start making an honest assessment of the damage Obama has done to race relations in the USA.
I believe he has set us back at least a full generation, possibly much more. Only time will tell.
You sound like a co-worker of mine, we were talking about this and he made the point to where we've might have bumped race relations as far back as 1970 if not further.
At the least, he has done his best to prop up the stereotype of the incompetent black man who would rather party and shuck and jive than work hard.
For many he confirms the stereotype of the black man who takes the shortcut and the easy money, the one who blows it all today and whines about prejudice tomorrow, after his paycheck is gone.
He confirms fears that a black man in power will not be fair to all but will favor blacks on the basis of their skin color alone.
The only color that concerns me is red or pink, he is a Commie. Still since race is always brought up by those on the left, it is an issue. I think he's wrecked it so much that it will also hurt Black conservatives too. I would have loved to see a Walter Williams Presidency although there are many others who could handle the job as well.
Obama isn't stupid, he is doing his handler's bidding to hurt the country and bringing about their goals. Where he is stupid though is he is overplaying his hand and hyperextending himself to the point where he will most likely be voted out, I hope. I hope enough people come to their senses, only time will tell.
Still, he is doing a good job at proving the Neo-Nazi's and the Klan's allegations to where Blacks look stupid and proving to them that Blacks are inept and shiftless. Heck, IIRC, may of those types wanted an Obama Presidency just to prove their "points" and Obama has delivered.
Same, really, I was hoping for a Black President to be a Republican (libertarian/conservative), to bring home the point that the color of one's skin does not matter but Obama has wrecked it to where it might take another 50 to 200 years to fix. It's a shame. B-(
