Could Missouri Republican Ann Wagner be the answer that GOP'ers are looking for? Although the first deadline passed for embattled Congressman Todd Akin, Missouri Republican, to withdraw from his U.S. Senate race against Sen. Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, without a court order and a fine, grassroots and Washington D.C. establishment conservatives I have spoken to are beginning to rally behind Ann Wagner.
She is currently running for Mr. Akin's 2nd Congressional district seat and is said to have supporters asking her to run against McCaskill should Akin leave the Missouri Senate race before the next September deadline passes. According to her bio page on her campaign website for the 2nd district. . . .

With a conservative support network around the state, the very articulate Wagner is best suited to take on Sen. McCaskill. The true test for Mrs. Wagner will be if Missouri and the nation call, will she take on the risk and Claire McCaskill? If Wagner's track record of taking on any challenge with a smile gives any indication, McCaskill might have numerous sleepless nights ahead wishing she had not gone after Todd Akin too early.

Never mind the reality that every Republican suggested as a replacement for him is just as solidly pro-life.
Ballwin As a staunch defender of the unborn I believe life begins at conception. Todd Akin's comments about rape were wrong and indefensible. Todd has apologized and understands he was wrong in what he said. It is now up to Missouri voters to decide whether they accept his apology. Our country is at a crossroads and we are facing serious issues brought on by the overreach of government in our lives, out-of-control spending and debt, and an environment that does not promote job creation and economic prosperity. I have been running for Congress in Missouri's 2nd District for 16 months and will continue to work hard to earn the trust and confidence of every voter.
Offer Akin $’x’ to cover his campaign “debts” and to pay his staff to get out ASAP. Make the offer a one time, take it or leave proposition with the understanding that if he doesn't take it, him, his wife, kids, parents, siblings, mailman, owner of the gas station where he fills up, etc., will learn what the terms PAIN and SUFFERING truly mean and it will all be DUE TO HIM.
And before any of the Lawrence Welk crowd attempts to retort with some half-baked bilge, I will pre-answer that:
FY, this is a war and you either fight to win or lose; there are no “moral victories”.
I imagine some of what you propose has already transpired - in “gentlemens’ terms, of course.
Even if Akin wins, his actions during this period will not be forgotten. He can’t expect any plum assignments and he will be primaried out in 2018.
“I cant help but wonder how he stayed in Congress so long.”
Akin 11 years (YOS) with a 97.24 lifetime ACU rating. Talent had a 95 rating.
“Even if Akin wins, his actions during this period will not be forgotten.”
Never. The f**ker needs to be Murkowski-ed NOW if he won’t get out.
I would not pick either primary loser, these are the people that lost to AKIN. Why be bound to either of them? The primary is past and irrelevant.
I presume Wagner would be replaced herself on the House ballot if she were the (unfortunately at this point hypothetical) replacement.
