Todd Akin hasn't had many high-profile supporters with him in the trenches this week, but Mike Huckabee became an important and emphatic exception Thursday afternoon, sending a message to his own supporters accusing Republican elites of trying to drum a good man out of a winnable Senate race. Here's what Huckabee said in an email to his list this afternoon:
Partys leaders have for reasons that aren't rational, left [Akin] behind on the political battlefield, wounded and bleeding, a casualty of his self-inflicted, but not intentional wound.

That’s an ongoing back-and-forth with someone else.... my apologies for causing confusion..
Ok, I got it.
Have a great evening.
I am not sure where you got this notion that I support abortions for rape victims. Rape is a violent act. For a female victim of rape that results in pregnancy should be 'her' decision. And I am not convinced that a 12 year old rape victim could medically speaking, carry to term and birth a child without her 'health' being endangered. If it's "her" decision, doesn't that make you pro-"choice" in cases of rape?
Boy Citadel sure scored big putting this Flapgool on against Rush...then forcing all of their stations to carry him....wow 15 listeners! It is a hideous show...

I must be wrong but I have taken the tack that poor Akin may be entirely too stupid to serve and found his remark to be shocking, hang the science, dangling from a shredded thread, for an excuse.
The point was not to deliver McCaskill an easy win, disrupt the contest for every other Republican running in contested races and get our presidential ticket off message for a week of media war that may cost Republicans their chance at the senate, because Akin believes he is too wonderful and conservative to bow to someone else.
Narcisisism cuts both ways and this guy is roadkill for the media forever.
I think Mr. Akin stumbled over his words, but from what I can tell, didn’t mean any harm. I agree with Huckabee on this one. Doesn’t necessarily look like a substantive issue. Looks like a feeding frenzy.
There are two different wings of the anti-Romney crowd within the party. There’s the hold-the-nose and vote anti-Romney crowd and the Obama-Over-Romney-Crowd.
Most of those who support Akin from outside of his state are the ones who vowed to let Obama win so they can teach the GOPe a lesson. Romney never had their vote.
The problem for this group (and now for us conservatives) is that if Akin loses the election AND / OR Romney loses Missouri and the general election, we lost the chance to be able to blame the GOPe, the RINOs and Romney. That’s all out the window now.
Shame on them who work against the Conservative movement in the name of conservatism.
I would love to see Todd Akin win so that he could say “Screw you” to the Republican establishment.
That would be a legitimate rape!
LOL!
My take is I think Mr. Akin stumbled over his words, but from what I can tell, didnt mean any harm. I agree with Huckabee on this one. Doesnt necessarily look like a substantive issue. Looks like a feeding frenzy.
No woman in history has ever carried a baby to term without her "health" being endangered.
FWIW Mary was probably 12 or 13 when she carried Jesus to term.
Well, then that's good news! I expect Akin to win Missouri according to what you say. So, there's no problem.
If you end up being wrong, however, and Harry Reid remains the Majority Leader, we have literally let the GOPe off the hook for the defeat. Say what you want about Akin but he is not part of the establishment therefore his defeat will be laid at our own feet. WE will own it.
How about we keep our mouths shut until we have the ability to do more than inflame the lunatic liberals. Up until Akin opened his ill advised mouth these liberals had NOTHING to vote for. Let lying dogs sleep and win by using wisdom instead of losing from inflammatory language.

On what evidence do you base that?
Feeding frenzies cannot happen to someone who is a good politician. That’s the difference between a good politician and a bad politician.
You can have the second best voting record next to Jesus but if you’re not a good politican your record is useless.
This adds up to we may be back to a politically expedient "solution" whether or not the guy is actually being railroaded. If that's true, then I'd say maybe WE'VE become part of the problem.
Tradition.

He has an excellent voting record, but he has damaged himself with his recent remarks. Time will tell if the wound is fatal.
