Todd Akin hasn't had many high-profile supporters with him in the trenches this week, but Mike Huckabee became an important and emphatic exception Thursday afternoon, sending a message to his own supporters accusing Republican elites of trying to drum a good man out of a winnable Senate race. Here's what Huckabee said in an email to his list this afternoon:
Partys leaders have for reasons that aren't rational, left [Akin] behind on the political battlefield, wounded and bleeding, a casualty of his self-inflicted, but not intentional wound.

Go away, Huckster.
Yes, we already know that the liberals are backing Akin 100%.
lol @ gomer
Huckabee is a moron, so this isn’t surprising. I bet this schmuck is the one who convinced him to stay in.
Why? We are stuck with Akin so might as well try to win. If Romney and the other establishment types would learn to STFU, it would have been much easier to win and all this would have been forgotten by the time the hurricane is a few days out. It wasn’t the dems that turned this into a national circus.
Why do I get a feeling the Ozark/Appalachian faction is on a martyrdom mission?
He’s trying to sabotage Romney/Ryan.
Huckabee-Schmuckabee
I don’t know who is lower on the Rino list, Huckabee or McCain?
I also don’t care these days if he is a ‘good man’ this is not about him.
THIS IS ABOUT OUR COUNTRY.
Akin - “L’Etat, c’est moi.”
This explains some of the nut-bags that are calling talk radio shows.
“I must follow my leader, Huck.”
Akin blew what was a golden opportunity. Face it.
Hunkamoron decided he wanted some company in the fringe zone so he invited akin in. The two can now bloviate happily together in the loser column.
Like the Dems would ever let this golden goose fade away.
You are delusional.
I have had all the Mike Huckabee than I can handle.
He and McCain need to just go away.
Huckabee is not a “moron”. I bet he lives better than you do. RUSH came across for Akin today in his first hour. The caller could not get him to bad mouth Akin. We need more good decent men like Akin.
Yep. His chance to run in 2016 is gone if Romney/Ryan win.
Why am I not surprised that Huckleberry is behind screwing our chances of winning yet again? He is the mole that gave us McCain in 2008 because he refused to drop out. Somebody is paying that huckster and they are not ‘friendlies’.
And McCain needs to take that what should have been a stain with him.
