Sloppy reporting! The Rabbi has NOT been charged (by the authorities - as the article implies and posters here seem to believe). The individual mentioned in the article filed a criminal complaint.
BFD. Anyone can file a criminal complaint against someone.
In fact, after that misguided single court ruling a few weeks ago, the Bundestag has passed a resolution that religious circumcision of boys should NOT be a criminal offense. Funny, didn't see that piece of news posted here.

The government should use reasonable regulations to insure circumcision is done safely. There are some Jews who practice sucking the blood from the penis of a circumcised boy by the mouth of the one performing the circumcision. I realize this description is offensive to some, but this ritual is actually practiced. Nothing in Law of Moses advocates this behavior as part of circumcision. It is ridiculous that it is practiced considering how strict the prohibition is against consuming blood. (Many Jews will not eat an egg which has the possibility of being fertilized.) A human mouth is full of germs which could very easily cause a serious illness by carrying out this practice.
This notwithstanding, circumcision should not only be allowed but should be the norm except where there is an objection based on religious or moral grounds.

FACT: Nobody ever asked me as a baby if I wanted circumcised when they brought out the knife.
This has nothing to do with religion, but everything about we humans having our rights from fetus to adult.
Before any human is cut or mutilated I’m all for asking for their permission first.
Had they waited until I was older and had a voice in this ritual, I can tell you right now I’d say the hxll with these crazy adults or their religious beliefs.
So ask the kid what he thinks - circumcision or no circumcision? Ask those young female babies too what they think when someone claims young females need to have their genitals mutilated?
If people are going to be mutilated, then wait until they grow old enough to give permission and get anesthetized an have a voice in it, instead of giving someone who has no connection to the family the voice.
