Years ago there was a court case here in Massachusetts of a Christian Scientist couple whose child died while under the care of a Christian Science "healer".The couple was put on trial for having failed to seek "western" medical care for the child...the charge was some kind of negligence (it wasn't murder or anything).Can't recall what the verdict was but although I'm a huge First Amendment guy (being Catholic I,too,am a religious minority) I could see where the parents could have been required to seek traditional care for their child *in addition to* whatever it is Christian Science "healers" do (prayer,IIRC).I might be inclined to take the same attitude in a case like this...a licensed physician performs the actual surgical procedure (which is exactly what it is,in addition to being a religious ceremony) and the Rabbi recites the traditional prayers before,during and after the procedure.Of course if the Rabbi is also a physician then there's no problem.Seems to me that prison might be too harsh for the Rabbi but...

If it's believed that this represents anti semitism then one can look at certain traditions that other religions might have.I can't think of any that Christianity has....moslems,perhaps? I don't know.I'm not well schooled on the traditions followed by other religions.
