Todd Akin Opens Door to Possible Exit
ABC News ^ | August 22, 2012 | George Stephanopoulos

Posted on 08/22/2012 10:38:01 AM PDT by EveningStar

Here’s what Missouri Congressman Todd Akin said when I asked if he was in the race to stay – even if it looked like he would lose and possibly cost Republicans control of the Senate.

“Well George, I’m never going to say everything that could possibly happen. I don’t know the future, but I do know this. I knew that the party voters took a look at our hearts, understood who we were, had a chance to meet us in many, many different ways and made a decision,” Akin told me. “And it makes me uncomfortable to think that the party bosses are going to dictate who runs as opposed to the election process.”

“The akin fool strapped on his own suicide vest and the people are trying to keep him from becoming a murderer with his stupidity.”

How could you say such a thing about a man who has fought for years for the Conservative cause and for Unborn Babies?

Akin is a hero and deserves our support as he fights against the liberal media, spineless RINO’s and socialist-godless democrats.

Absolutely, Akin has plenty of time to clarify his beliefs to the voters. There will be debates, correct? Most of the people who would have voted for him are Christians and understand the concept of forgiveness, unlike coldhearted, power-hungry political consultants who would throw their grandmother under the bus to win an election. If Akin’s poll numbers tank and stay there, then he should resign, just as Romney should since Romney can’t get above Obama in the polls. But he should be given a second chance to redeem himself after one isolated mistake.

Remember when Akin said, “It’s not about me.”? Well it’s probably about the money though. Word is starting to leak out that he’s staying in because he was paid to stay in. Who would pay him to stay in? I can think of several Democratic linked organizations. Primary is Soros.

A caller to Dennis Prager’s show said this situation has been made into a far worse problem because of a spineless Republican party who doesn’t defend their own and who refused to help clarify Akin’s remarks. He’s right.

The headline is BS. This is what he said:

"The people of Missouri chose me, and I don't believe it's right for party bosses to decide to override those voters," Akin said. "It makes me uncomfortable to think that the party bosses are going to dictate who runs, as opposed to the election process."

As I said in a previous post on another thread, we gotta gop guy running for congress here in upstate NY, and he’s already having to field questions on ‘legitimate rape’. Doing a good job, but why should he have to deal with this?

I’m as pro-life as the next person. But is this what we want our candidates to spend the next 3 months fielding questions about?

I heard all over the place that the deadline was yesterday at 5:00. It was almost like a countdown. And then after five I heard The deadline was 6:00.

And now we’re talking about him stepping aside a day later?!

What changed?

Can we trust nothing we hear on the news any more?

And you think the Missouri voters who are obviously unhappy with Obama and the Democrats will suddenly turn around and give them their stamp of approval just because Akin made one confusing statement that he quickly clarified and retracted?

Whether Akin withdraws or not, Dems will take his remarks out of context and use them to try and say all Republicans hate women or whatever. So that ain’t going away no matter what Akin does now. His apology didn’t make it go away and withdrawing won’t.

He’s a fool and a selfish fool at that, clearly NOT interested in the country or in defeating Obamacare but “me, me, me.” It is the worst of all sins, vanity.

Nope because you complete missed the fact that Foley was about corruption in the GOP leadership and their attempts to protect him

I have to laugh that the same people who lectured us endlessly about how we had to put social issues on the back burn and focus on economic issues in 2012 are now falling into the exact same trap they accuse Soc Cons of falling into.

Instead of keeping the focus ON the dominate issue of the economy, the GOP/Conservative movement is letting the Democrat propaganda machine suck them into this non debate.

The Conservative/GOP movement is winning big all over the place. They needs to stop spending all their time fretting about what the Dems are doing and start making the Dems worry about what we are doing.

Why is this guy talking to Obama cheerleader in chief Stephy anyway? This compounds the original stupidity.

On the other hand, if the fate of the entire country hangs on the election of one senator from Missouri, we’re in the kind of trouble it won’t be that easy to get out of.

And the MIssouri GOP will replace Rep. Akin with a Romney-McCain RINO who cannot win in November.

They won't miss their chance to take out a conservative and replace him with a liberal-moderate.

Yes, DNMFoHE. Rush just said that "Akin now sees himself as a martyr." Rush also said that "this is the *country* that we're talking about."

Akin is now, unequivicably, a straight up LIAR, with his laughable "tweet" that it's the Liberal media who is trying to push him to step down.

He's showing his "nutjob" now--he's fully aware that the "Liberal media" is the LAST "group" that would even *begin* to want him out.

This is SERIOUSLY offensive.

I dare ANYone to say, with a straight face, that Akin is being honest about his latest *claim.*

Yesterday at 5:00 was the easy drop out deadline. He can still withdraw until Sept. 25th, but it requires court approval and the campaign is responsible for the cost of ballot reprints. After Sept. 25th, too late.

My personal opinion is there are negotiations occurring under the radar. Whatever money it costs to buy him out would be well spent.

I think if Jesus glorified appeared to him and told him to drop out, he’d say “Get thee behind me, Satan!”
