So when a hurricane hits a heavily populated area, it is no laughing matter. But some liberals are enjoying the news anyway.

The Republican venues vary from 1 foot to 300 feet from the water; all of the venues and the hotels are in Category 1-Category 2 evacuation zones.

Agreed. Many are staying on the gulf beaches of Clearwater and St
Pete. If this is even a cat one, there will be mandatory evacuations. Further, the will have no place to stay and no flights out.

Isn’t it odd that Liberals only find religion when someone is potentially getting injured?

From what I understand, if it’s a legitimate hurricane then the GOP has a natural defense for that.

Because of their stance on the sanctidy of marriage God will turn the hurricane and position it atop the dem convention where it will wash them (figuratively) of their sins!!!(sarc/)

If the convention has to be postponed until after theirs,

I've said before that they should be held in THE SAME WEEK.

Think about what you wish for before you wish.

Do you really want the world to get indigestion and a case of the trots from swallowing up dems?

Good idea to head to the store.

The comments here amaze me. Is the only impact of a hurricane political?

Yes, it may go over land and weaken before it hits Tampa. The current path has the northeast (bad) quadrant going over Miami (where I live).

There is no such thing as a “minor” hurricane. Having lived through Andrew in South Dade, Irene, Katrina, Rita, Wilma ... I would not really relish a “minor” one like Wilma messing up my house and car (again).

Like you. I am off to the store (replenish batteries, etc), freezing jugs of water, making sure my chain saw works ...

A lot of people here are recent arrivals. They have no idea of a storm like Andrew. (It was not until a day or so before arrival that it was taken seriously).

I know that most of my friends and colleagues who work at the Hurricane Center are taking the necessary precautions (”just in case”). They know better than most how “iffy” those forecasts are.

ACTUALLY, the BEST thing in the world would be for the hurricane to hit Tampa and forcce the GOP to reschedule its convention AFTER the DemocRats have THEIRS.

The party which holds the LAST convention has an advantage in answering the claims of the OTHER party’s convention effectively and leaving a fresher imprint on the mind of the voters.

I am not asking for much. I want it to come down in buckets on election day. Hit Philly the hardest and go right up through Boston.

That will give us Pennsy, Jersey, NY and Mass.

You just confirmed my second sentence.

So, the “BEST thing in the world” would an intensified... maybe Cat 2,3, ? hurricane that hits Tampa? Or maybe you just want a relatively “minor” hurricane ... enough to mess up the convention, and maybe coincidentally kill a few other residents.? Or just mess up their houses, cars, lives. Hmmmmmmm?

That is the most insane comment I have ever seen on this site.

Lighten up.

I just said a hurricane that force the re-scheduling of the convention.

I didn’t say anything about killing people or destroying property.

Tampa is in a hurricane zone, o.k.? They have hurricanes there - its a fact of life. I live in New Jersey and we have blizzards. Its a fact of life. Sometimes we want them and sometimes we don’t.

So - LIGHTEN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I think you have been drinking too much of Fafnir’s blood, Sigurd!)

Isaac looks like it will go over the mountainous area of Cuba which means it will be significantly weakened there. Usually storms that threaten the Florida West Coast come in north of Cuba or through the Yucatan strait.

If God sends a hurricane to Tampa for the RNC convention, it will simply be His way of hosing down the OWS types that will be picketing outside. Nothing to worry about.

BTW, if the tracking is correct, Isaac is going to run through interference on its way through Cuba and probably weaken. If it’s a Cat 1 or less, nobody will care except the hyperventilating media.

But Joe will be standing outside greeting attendees... Maybe he’ll have to just go inside and greet! LOL

VP attends the Republican National Convention, has a blast!

Sigurdrifta (Also spelled Sigrdrifa and many others) is not Sigurd.

In the Norse eddas, Sigurdrifta was the Valkyrie who taught Sigurd wisdom :)
