Maybe someone else than? The question is, who? For the ones who say “Sarah wants a 3rd party run McCaskill will win” really, does that even matter now, McCaskill is going to win anyway, by A LOT, so mind as well give something, anything a try, have nothing to lose at this point
One of my facebook friends just mentioned to me Wagner, said she would be an excellent choice, so glad you mentioned her too. Oh if Akin stays on the ballot he could dip into the 20s, I wouldnt be surprised if McCaskill won by 30 points
I think we’ll see Akin fall behind 10 points or more in the polls in the next few days. If that doesn’t push him out, then it’s time to go guerilla and get a third party candidate lined up.
Akin shouldn’t keep Romney and Ryan from campaigning in Mo. He can be kept away from their campaign stops. That isn’t an issue IMHO.
It's not over yet. Akin can still read the tea leaves and decide to drop out, but now it will take a court filing.
We can't let people forget this, that there are still options.
So, we have to start talking up the courts, just in case. We cannot allow a liberal judge to force Akin to remain on the ballot if Akin chooses later to withdraw. That would be judicial activism of a nature way beyond the Torricelli/Lautenberg ruling.
With Torricelli, Democrats argued that the voters of New Jersey deserved a competitive election, and therefore the courts must allow Torricelli to be replaced with another candidate. Ironically, they argued this simultaneously with arguing in Hawaii that the recently deceased Patsy Mink should remain on the ballot in the name of fairness, and any votes for her should count for her replacement.
Sympathetic courts sided with the Democrats in both cases, voting to toss the Torch and keep the late Mink.
And let's not even talk about the Mel Carnahan disaster here in Missouri. The reason the courts didn't intervene is that John Ashcroft was too much of a gentleman to contest the legitimacy of running against a dead candidate who had the governor's promise to name his wife in his place if he won. Properly, votes for Carnahan should not have counted at all, but Rules For Democrats trump the rules for the rest of us, it seems.
So, what would they do in Missouri if Akin decides to drop out later? Will they force him to remain despite other courts allowing the deceased to remain in Hawaii and Missouri, and the loser to be replaced in New Jersey?

I don’t know Mo. politics well enough to even venture a guess. Does David Limbaugh live in Mo.?? LOL...I would love to see him as a US senator!!
MO isn’t AK and it’s not likely Steelman could pull off a Murkowski. Sarah’s getting like John Kerry. Neither can let an incident occur without having to opine on it. Sometimes it’s best to keep your opinions to yourself and let those more familiar with the situation handle it.
Hey Im all for Sarah Palin running for MO Senator, I think she would win, but unfortunately she doesn’t live in the state so she couldnt run, but she could always move there for a week and say “Is living here a week enough” LOL..people on twitter keep talking about Ann Wagner, saying that she would be the perfect candidate. I dont live in MO either, stuck here in looney liberal SoCal
True, but if they get up on stage with a 3rd party candidate, then that creates even further separation from Akin, making it clear that he’s not the candidate and just some random kook that doesn’t know to stop dancing after the music got turned off.
Palin and the others need to get a grip. She should be distancing herself and the party from this fool, downplaying the whole thing & stating that it’s Missouri’s problem etc. I see nothing gained by major Republican Party officials and stakeholders appearing to be in a panic over this. They should downplay the political consequences publicly and wreak havoc privately.
” - - - we have to end this OPEN PRIMARY crap once and for all.”
Right you are, BobL!
Add to that allowing the biggest States to vote FIRST, and we have two new planks for the new CONSERVE AMERICA Political Party.
Ryan is tryin’ but he lacks the guts to cut year-to-year Federal expenses.
His “Ryan Budget” breaks even when he will be 70 years old, if all of his assumptions work out to be correct.
We are so weak and nervous now we have to walk on egg shells because we have a ABO candidate. Thanks, people! I didn't see her tonight on Greta. Third party would not work. IMO. What a grenade. What's next!?
Guess what, status quo isn’t working either. Akin has about as much chance of winning this election as Madonna has of being selected Pope of the Catholic Church. He was up by 1 in a PPP poll that oversampled Republicans by 9, and this is just the beginning. You’ll see his numbers crash rapidly over the next couple of weeks, at this point, there’s nothing to lose and a 3rd party candidate gives the Republicans even further separation from this loon.
They don’t need to get on stage with any Mo. candidates.. They are there to win the votes of Mo. citizens. If I were running their campaign I would have them in Mo. regardless and just ignore the whole brouhaha.
I agree with you. I felt bad for the guy. Now I hate him for what he has done and won’t do.
What is the latest date a third party candidate can get in the race?
“I agree with you. I felt bad for the guy. Now I hate him for what he has done and wont do.”
Yea, it’s a bummer. I would still vote for the guy if no Third Party, just because the election should only be about how they’ll vote in the Senate - not whether they’d make a good councilor in a rape crisis clinic, or be the kind of person you’d want preaching to your daughter.
But the problem isn’t me, or most FReepers, the problem is people that look at a Senator as someone they have to be able to defend in their social circle, and actually get embarrassed when their friends (from places like New York City) ask questions like “how can you live in a state where you have a kook like that in the Senate?”
Like I said at the beginning - if I thought this guy would be another Hitler, I’d vote against him - since Hitler first got power in a regional election. Other than that, I could care less whether he’s a political klutz. Unfortunately, that puts me with, probably, 40% of the voters in MO, while the next 15% (i.e., the people that would put him over the top) do want him to be a saint, and they will not vote for him now, at all - so he loses in a landslide, in a 2 party race.
That’s a very good point.
This race is far from over and 3 months is plenty of time for Akins to recover and win this.
