Does this mean they are planning to extend unemployment compensation beyond the 99 weeks?

Let's see.....There ws supposed to be no new taxes on the middle class...

Apparently there was no middle class. That must be the group that makes minimum wage....and pays no taxes to start with.

This will be this weeks’ MSM mantra.

It’s all good now, Baraq fixed it.

That 16% real unemployment, surging food prices, and $4 gas are just figments of rightwing extremists.

"Folks, the middle class is coming back."

Wait a minute Joe, you mean to say that "change" has brought us right back to where we started from 4 years ago??

Joe Biden recently told an audience HE is part of the middle class.

The middle class didn’t go anywhere. As much as Obama tried to destroy us, we are still here.

Yes, some got laid off, but most of them still had jobs. The fiction that 2008 destroyed the middle class is just that. The people who were killed were those with large investment portfolios, not the typical middle class person with the $10,000 bank account and $20,000 in credit card debt.

I guess the parts of the middle class who decided to pretend they were rich by rolling over mortgages to live in huge houses were hurt as well, but they didn’t go away. We are still here, and ready to save our country from the democrats who seek to make “one america” by dragging the middle class down into the welfare class.

Unless you work on Wall Street, around Washington, DC with its exploding Federal job rolls, around California's Silicon Valley with booming Apple and Google, and in North Dakota with the boom of oil and natural gas extraction using fracking in the Bakken Formation, the middle class is NOT coming back, Mr. Vice President! :-p

What we need is both regulatory reform AND major income tax reform so the entire US economy is booming again, and that in turn means a way more prosperous middle class.

I suppose the resurgence of the middle class will be driven by the entry of all those who used to be upper class.

I wonder which ‘Middle Class’ he’s talking about...

The ‘Working’ or ‘Non-Working’ Middle Class?

What did ‘they’ do - drop the poverty level to show more middle class?

Just checking quickly there are hundreds of articles about the increasing poverty rate - from HuffPo to the NYT (yes, that much of a spread in ideology/sarc - lol)

Someone didn’t get the memo....

Me thinks they need to put Biden on a teleprompter, too. He doesn’t think well on his feet (or ever). His gaffes and stupid comments just keep coming and can’t possibly be scripted.

My guess is that if they put a teleprompter in front of Biden, you would see his lips move as his brain tries to process the visual information, putting him a few sentences behind in the recitation in real-time. It would be a disaster.

Instead of embracing all this "middle class" rhetoric of the Obama class-conscious ideology, the best thing Republicans could do for America is to reject "class" as a tool for dividing and labeling individuals.

Every single individual, under America's founding philosophy was "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights," no matter whether they possessed nothing, only a set of clothing and a plow, or a fine house and many acres of land. There was non "middle." There were just individuals rejecting arrogant policies by one man--King George III.

That generation was willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of freedom, and they fought alongside each other for that freedom, as did all the generations which followed them.

Biden and the so-called "progressives" are regressive in their ideas, pit one citizen against the other, and reject the notion of the Founders because that founding philosophy underlying "the People's" written Constitution places limits and prohibitions on the coercive power they wish to exert over the lives of every citizen.

Actually, Biden's reference to "chains" the other day were used more appropriately by the author of our Declaration of Independence to describe precisely the purpose of the U. S. Constitution in relationship to elected officials like Biden.

The Founders' intent was that ours is not a government's Constitution to limit people. Rather, it is "We, the People's" Constitution to be used, according to Jefferson, to "bind them (government) down by the chains of the Constitution."

What we are seeing now is a battle between forces who have one charismatic, but mere mortal (Krauthammer), man out there carrying the water for changing that concept in the minds of citizens who, they thought, had been dumbed down by decades of neglect and censorship of the ideas of liberty.

Providence may have outwitted them by allowing the development of new technologies that make the Founders' ideas a powerful and readily available tool in the new battle for freedom.
