WASHINGTON (AP) -- A spokesman for Senate Republicans' campaign arm says Rep. Todd Akin is putting issues he cares about at risk by staying in the Missouri Senate race and says Akin's "misguided" campaign will get no support from the group.
Akin has come under intense pressure to exit the race after saying women could prevent pregnancy in cases of "legitimate rape." But he reiterated plans Tuesday to continue his bid.

Since we worry he can’t win...we will make sure of it.
Brilliant.
they have to distance themselves from him in no uncertain terms. Nobody wants that albatross tied around their neck.
Hopefully the democrats will not pull their financial support for him.
He’ll be down in the polls by 10 in 2 weeks. He has over 50% disapproval in Missouri RIGHT NOW, and McCaskill has yet to even start campaigning against him, mostly she’s been propping him up this far.
All the money in the world right now couldn’t help save that fool. He has no chance, thanks to his own comments, so why throw good money after bad? He’s made it clear that he values his own ego more than he does his country or his party, and he’s actually going to hurt the causes he supposedly values, so screw him.
Akin can win this election without the meddling help of the establishment Yellow Bellied RINO’s on the NRSC.
The Party of Truly Stupid! IDIOTS & MORONS!
It’s called cutting your losses. We don’t need this toxic moron hung around neck of every other candidate in the country, including Paul Ryan. If he can’t answer a basic question on his pet issue competently, what gift to liberals is he going to serve up next?
Boy you can sure tell who is immature around the political arena these days. Good God we need the crying baby picture big time....waaaa didn't get our way so we are going to kick and scream at how mean Akin is....what retards. Grow up!!!!!
Maybe this way his gaffe will only cost them one Senate seat, instead of several.
There are an awful lot of FR postings with the same attitude behind them in regards to this issue also.
Looks like the stock market has reversed based on projected GOP loss.
This election is too important for one man to stand in our way.
Could this guy be an Obama/Soros plant, deployed as a spoiler to further Obama’s silly “war on women” theme, while saving the Rats a senate seat at the same time (the likely result if he remains obstinate)?
I saw on another thread that Democrats pumped a pile of cash into his campaign.
Hopefully the Republicans back a write in candidate. The whole nation needs to know he’s being disavowed.
It has already resonated nationally and internationally. It is a top headline in San Francisco news and BBC news.
The Rats will make every Republican "disavow" one candidate's statement, and the MSM will do their bidding every day until the election.
Akin needs to quit immediately, otherwise this will hurt conservative candidates nationally.
It's not just worry. It's a fact in this 'American Idol Picks A Senator' electorate.
Akin citing PPP R+9 push poll (PPP trap works) which only gives him a 1% 'lead'
Remember Christine O'Donnell, Sharron Angle, Ken Buck, Joe Miller ... all examples of distraction issues which led to a DNC win.

Much as I agree with your characterization of the NRSC, no, he cannot win without them. He would have to self-fund his campaign, or draw upon a groundswell of support that I can't envision materializing. The conservative PACs have already withdrawn their support, and Rat money and Rat PACs will inundate the state.
Akin is a lost cause and needs to quit. Conservative resources are best directed elsewhere, as he has already lost his Senate seat--and I don't want him to drag down conservative candidates elsewhere.
Isn't Akin's issue fundamentally - not the frequency of rape pregnancy but - when does live begin? At the heart should a baby born of rape be aborted?
