Shortly after it was announced that Rep. Paul Ryan would join the Romney ticket as this year's Republican vice presidential candidate, I wrote a piece titled, "What We Know About Paul Ryan and Blacks."
Well, I recently learned of another significant addition to this list.
As reported on Twitter by CNN's Pete Hamby, Ryan said he has a black sister-in-law, but perhaps even more interesting, his "college sweetheart" was African American.
So here is the million-dollar question: Is the fact that Ryan has dated interracially a noteworthy detail to consider when analyzing his politics and policies?

Sorry - no time to analyze this. Must return to wall-to-wall Akin coverage...
The simple and only answer is NO, period.
No.
It only matters if you're a progressive, otherwise, you don't care either way.
Ok, this means he’s not a racist.
Translation: He is still a racist because of his policies.
Obama must go. IMHO this has no bearing on that goal.
Doesn’t matter to me.
Now if he had dated a democrat...
it would depend on how hot she was.
No. It.does.not.matter. At least not to conservatives but it will to the racist liberals. Hope they choke on their own hypocrisy.
So, where is my $1 million?
For leftists the fact that they broke up proves he is a racist.
“not a socialist” = “racist”
Actually, I dunno....did Obama ever have a black ‘girlfriend’ that didn’t need to squat to pee?
He is still a racist because he didn’t find it fit to marry her. But then again, you might be a bigot if, (enter appropriate Jeff Foxworthy line here).
So Ryan has something that 0bama doesn’t, a black, former girl friend?
Gee, how about that. A man has had girl friends before getting married. Isn’t that weird?
The writer should read and contemplate her own words.
Ryan, like Republicans in general, are more impressed by the content of your character than by the color of your skin.
The writer makes the mistake of connecting things that don't connect. If you are fond of latin americans in general or Mexicans in particular, that doesn't mean you favor illegal immigration or open borders. Mexicans don't favor it for their country either, and I doubt you can find a single country anywhere where they do favor it.
If you are fond of black people and have the highest respect for them as people, that doesn't mean that you want to treat them as dependent and lesser citizens... quite the contrary. It is the promoters of the dependency culture i.e. Democrats who see black people as second class citizens and insist on patronizing them.
You beat me to the punch!
