Akin to Hannity last night said repeatedly: but I won a tough
primary! .....Akin’s point being, hey, I am so popular that
I will overcome this, no problem!
I beg to differ with Mr. Akin. I live in Missouri, I thought Brunner
was going to win.
I believe he was leading in the polls, and was surprised Akin
won. Now I think it was because of Democrat crossover in
the open primary.
Akin needs to exit quickly.
Well, whoever steps up or gets the call to be the replacement, I hope they beat McCaskill. She’s easily the most vulnerable Democratic Senator this time around, and if she somehow limps across the victory line because of all this mess...man, I’d rather chew tinfoil than see her in for 6 more years.
the woman’s body shuts down and prevents conception? i mean whatever he said, however unartfully, it was ridiculous.
No matter what he intended it sounded ludicrous and has blown everything up, including his chances at being elected. this really is NOT about being prolife in cases of rape or incest any longer. Ardent prolife conservatives were appalled by what he said.
Exactly. Even if we agree with this guy's pro-life philosophy (which I do), his statement as delivered is radiantly hot political Kryptonite. There's not enough lead in the world to contain it. In the current media climate it will poison everyone on our side. You gotta shoot it into the sun to get rid of it.
And now he wants him to QUIT.
Absolutely not -- it's politics. You just affirmed my point.
I don’t want him to quit. I don’t want the Republican GOP to pick some loser for us. Missouri voted for Akin because he is a good man. A poor choice of words is not going to make me run for the hills. This is ridiculous!! He can still easily beat Claire. She is a nightmare and I think after a week or so people will rally back around Akin to defeat her.
You are all over FR spouting this exact same thing over and over again. You are not a fortune teller. He is not “guaranteed to lose” if he stays in the race.
Go Akin!
In other news, Capitol maintenance workers are rushing to complete the installation of soft padded walls in Mitch McConnell’s office before 5:00 PM Central Time.
The fact that McCaskill was spending ad money that benefited Akin was pretty well known before the primary election.
Yup, I can see the MSM giving us a pass if we cite that one. We Republicans would be better served by dancing naked on the National Mall to old Village People tunes.
I’m going to play stupid here but who the heck is Ann Wagner?
Talent said he wouldn’t run. But seriously ... let’s think about this. He was asked before any official word that Akin would step down. Once it’s final, I think we’ll see Talent step up.
LMAO!

- Your mother’s meatloaf sammitches?
- I finally found a local eatery that has a meatloaf plate that is at least 1/2 as good as the meatloaf my mother used to make.
It gets up to 75% as good by the third cold Corona.....

make sure you pull your mantle of “principles” close around you for warmth, when we are sitting in Obama’s 2016.
I can’t stand the thought of not having any say in who his replacement would be. That is one reason why I am not 100% against him stepping aside.
You are splitting hairs. Here is what he said: "If its a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut the whole thing down."
Words mean things. And really amazingly foolishly chosen and woefully ignorant words mean that your candidacy is toast.
If the GOP really has the power, Todd Akin woke up this morning with either a horse head on his bed or a large check underneath the door.
It’s not just the gaffe, it’s the *subject matter.* Trying to draw a distinction between “legitimate rape” and just “rape” this close to an election poisons the atmosphere in a much larger area than MO. That’s why he needs to go.
