Doctor secretly denied 12-year-old trauma victim food and water

A doctor at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas denied a 12-year-old gun-shot victim food and water and slipped a "do not resuscitate" order in the patient's chart, without the parents' knowledge. In Texas, the doctors' actions are protected by law. Now the patient is facing a so-called death panel where the doctor and hospital will give the patient and patient's family ten days to find another healthcare facility or they will stop treating the patient.

I did. I can’t see why the parents can’t get a court order overriding the NDR protocol based on grossly improper administrative and medical procedure.

I really wish this was satire, but after 15 years of nursing, I believe this stuff IS actually happening. What an outrage!! The next time someone tells me Texas is such a great place, I’m going to inform them that hospitals in that state are empowered to pull the plug regardless of patient’s or families’ wishes.

I am extremely skeptical. They name names of everyone BUT the actual doctor.

Cooks Hospital is an institution in Fort Worth. This is why they are forcing doctors to move to hospitals instead of private practice. The death panels have started only with the young at least what we know.

Obama and his group should be tried for treason.

It’s hard to believe but it’s real. Texas Right to Life isn’t making this up.

The name of the doctor will eventually be made public but right now he’s “caring” for the boy. People are being cautious.

Because Texas law allows the doctor to do this. The law was passed when Bush was governor. The medical lobby in Texas is very powerful so it’s hard to get it reversed.

There are many, many good things about Texas. However, there are some really powerful folks and groups that hold a lot of sway over things. Texas legal and medical lobbies are two such groups.

I’m not familiar with Spero News, but this is highly suspect. Given that some parts of the story make no medical sense whatsoever, I’m highly suspicious.

1, The article claims that an EEG found that his brain was intact. EEG’s cannot find that your brain is intact. His brain is not intact. There is no question on this as a surgeon has removed part of it.

2, The article reference the Texas Right to Life organization. TRL has absolutely nothing on their website, which seems out of place since TRL is quick to put actionable stories on it’s website.

3, The story makes several claims about the progress of Zach Fernandez up to August 13th. He was admitted the 6th, and on the 15th the hospital released a report that his condition was unchanged and that he’d made no improvement.

There is a lot wrong with this story. Your skepticism is warranted.

Yes, indeed, this stuff is happening.

I just did a show on the euthanasia movement on EWTN Radio on Saturday, if anyone is interested:

Note to the doctor: The Lord will not be secret about His prescription. Prepare yourself.

Show me where TRL is making the statement. I went to TRL’s website and found nothing, and they’re known for being current. If I missed it, I’ll gladly admit my mistake.

Now you know why the Republicans don’t make a bigger issue of Obama’s death panels. This has been quietly going on in this country for a few decades. Remember Terry Schiavo?

Its cases like this that make it extremely irritating when my country (Britain) is compared to the Soviet Union/Logans Run/Solyent Green etc for having an NHS. Death panels apparently exist under private healthcare too. At least the NHS is directly accountable to an elected government instead of unaccountable shareholders...
