re hours after Politico reported on Republican Congressman Eric Yoder's admitted skinny-dipping in the Sea of Galilee in Israel, CBS highlighted the story on its Monday morning newscast. By contrast, the network was slow to report on former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner's lewd photo scandal in 2011. On June 1 of that year, ABC and NBC's morning shows reported on the "underwear uproar," while CBS's Early Show punted on the story.
The following day, CBS played up conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart's early role in spreading word of the New York liberal's indecent Twitter pic: "Supporters of Weiner note that it was right-wing blogger, Andrew Breitbart, who broke the story. But Breitbart tells CBS News he had nothing to do with the supposed hack." Of course, Weiner would go on to admit that he sent the photo.
Fill-in anchor Jeff Glor asked correspondent Nancy Cordes about the Rep. Yoder story: "Nancy, I also want to ask you quickly about this Politico report that the FBI probed an incident involving several congressmen on a trip to Israel last summer. What do you know about this?"
The CBS journalist briefly summarized the Sunday night article from writers Jake Sherman and John Bresnahan:
CORDES: That's right. The FBI, according to Politico, did look into this trip where about 20 people - members of congress, staffers, family members - ended up going for a late night dip in the Sea of Galilee one night, including one member of Congress who was skinny-dipping. Rep. Eric Yoder of Kansas has since released an apology, which reads, in part, Jeff, 'Regrettably, I jumped into the water without a swimsuit.' So, there you go.
Oddly, Cordes didn't explicitly mention Rep. Yoder's Republican party affiliation, while an on-screen graphic disclosed it ("Congressional Skinny-Dipping: Report: FBI Investigates GOP Swim in Galilee Sea"). Also, during NBC's coverage of the story, chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell stated that "contrary to reports, the FBI did not investigate and would not have had any jurisdiction."
That headline has some real potential! Have at it!
If they show pictures of Ryan skinny-dipping the election will be a gigantic landslide for R-R.
The reason the lib media did not report on it is because for dems, they consider this to be a normal way of life for thier kind....
So what. If I got the chance to jump into the Sea of Galilee au natural I’d do it in a heartbeat. Just to be able to say I did it.
Oh, for Pete’s sake. it is no big deal, other than the fact that they were supposed to be in Israel on government business.
I think that it is more scandalous that the FBI was tailing them and conducting an investigation before any crime was committed. That is the reason that the Democrats did not report it.

Don’t know whether it is big deal or not....haven’t seen the evidence (not that we want to)....
When did it become the jurisdiction of the FBI to investigate someone skinny-dipping in foreign country??
Public nudity is acceptable behavior in Israel. Why is this a matter for the the FBI?
This is so common in europe that it should be a non-issue.
Entire families show up at beaches with their friends.
The only time its not common is when its too darn cold.
In Israel, it is VERY common although I remember you had to pay $$$ to swim in Galilee where the Med was free.
...and yes, I’ve done it in many places around the world.
The best was Australia.
Have you been to Israel? Nudity on beaches is common.

SHRINKAGE!!!!
Haven’t you ever heard of shrinkage?
What evidence? The FBI report? Who cares, some people went for a midnight swim in various stages of dress, one stripped down completely. Have you never gone skinny dipping????
The FBI didn’t even bother to report it because there was nothing to report and they shouldn’t have been conducting the investigation in the first place. On the other hand, no one from the FBI was available to report the Secret Service dalliance with prostitutes, while guarding the President.
Lived there years ago. Swam at beaches from the Dead Sea to Tel Aviv up to Haifa, lived, worked, and camped on the shores of the Sea of Galilee (Kinnereth).
Never saw nudity once.
Eilat also. Find it hard to believe things have changed that radically.
[insert “Weiner dallying” joke here]
The FBI is part of the Department of Justice. Perhaps they see a chance to help the Democratic Party.
Maybe Congressman Kevin Yoder was inspired by the example of St. Peter. According to John 21.7, Peter was naked while fishing in his fishing boat on the Sea of Galilee. (The word used in the Greek is gymnos which can mean "naked" but sometimes means "lightly clad.")
Please don’t be shocked but I shower with no clothes on everyday.
