If those police, firemen and teachers were laid-off then maybe they would have taken jobs in the private sector or started their own business. Instead now we are on the hook for their pensions which they will receive at age 55.

Maybe cities and towns would have scrapped their pension systems in order to keep their employees?

Giving money to the unproductive means the bill will have to be paid back with interest since there will be no production to tax or wealth created.

I think the “stimulus” means we get to bankruptcy a lot faster but only with much more money down the drain. When no one will buy our bonds or loan us money then and only then will the government make the necessary changes. And contrary to what Obama says the businesses will get wealthy on their own.

Let me think about that a bit.

It might help in the short run, but in the long run, it will discourage foreign companies from investing if they believe they are going to be looted.

And in the near future (wherein manufacturing is highly automated) companies will invest in the safest environments (since they are no longer chasing cheap labor rates but more dependent on infrastructure and stable government).
