Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin's advisers are making preparations to withdraw from the race Tuesday, GOP operative Richard Grenell and RedState.com editor Erick Erickson report. Grenell cited "GOP sources" in his tweet announcing the withdrawal, which has yet to be confirmed by Akin. Akin has been under fire since saying women have biological defenses to fend off pregnancy after a "legitimate rape."

Check Akin’s bank account to see if he got any money from Dems recently. Something doesn’t smell right about this guy

If Rep. Akin withdraws (full disclosure: I voted for him and continue to support him. . . . Same here. Akin is my congressman. It's a shame that a twelve-second soundbite could ruin a man's career. He was making a valid point--about abortion--but said it about as badly as he could. It's a self-inflicted wound, though.

His response should have been “Why condemn the unborn child for the actions of his illegitimate father ?”

He was on FOXNews. If you’re a Republican and you can’t handle questioning by FoxNews, you don’t belong in office.

So MO is now in the “Dem Hold” column.
What other possible flip states are out there to make up for this nightmare and still get 60+ ??
To: nhwingut
I’m hearing this too too, hopefully the leadership have a horses head ready for this idiot if necessary.

NO WAY to Steelman! She has NO integrity! Why do I think Akin is being railroaded? I have NEVER heard of so many people turning against a candidate on their own side as fast as the RINO Railroad has turned on Akin. His remarks were poorly phrased, but essentially what many prolife experts have said for decades; rape rarely results in pregnancy. Less than 1 percent of abortions are for rapes. Will you nuts PLEASE get a GRIP!!!!! Stop railroading your OWN team!

The only known defense to pregnancy during a “legitimate” rape is a short barrel 357 magnum or some other similar defense instrument.

Listening to him on Hannity now. He isn’t very bright or articulate sounding. He says he was trained as an engineer... doesn’t sound like the training stuck.
He needs to resign. He will not win. He will hurt the ticket in Missouri.
If he does not resign it shows that the race is all about himself for him. He would be wrong.

Here’s a thought:
Mittens does the tough thing but the right thing. He calls up this clown, real quiet and low key, and tells him that it’s over. That he’s now toxic and a drag on the ticket, not just in MO, but nationwide.
I guy who would be president would do it.

He was just on Hannity and could not explain what he meant by "the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down".
To: Col Frank Slade
Missouri is now “Dem Hold”? Really? What polls are you citing?
