As a husband and father of two young women, I found Todd Akins comments about women and rape outrageous, inappropriate and wrong. There is no place in our public discourse for this type of offensive thinking. Not only should he apologize, but I believe Rep. Akins statement was so far out of bounds that he should resign the nomination for US Senate in Missouri.

“We need this seat to repeal Obamcare.”
Bingo! There is still time to correct this mistake.
The MO voters should have listened to Sarah.
Yeah but regardless of what they say or do, the Dems will circle the wagons in their defense.
Is Sarah Steelman still available?
I will not be sad when Warren defeats Mr Brown. C ya.
Biden is a Democrat. They are not expected to use reason.
“I will not be sad when Warren defeats Mr Brown”
Is this an endorsement of Obamacare?
I just hope his replacement isnt Alan Keyes.
That was the best laugh I had all day.
First off, tell Scott Brown to keep his trap shut and if need be, go for a ride in his pick up.
Meanwhile, we need to win this senate race...this clown running for the GOP may as well have stepped on a land mine with his ridicules comment. There is no rehabing such a stupid remark. We have zero chance of winning with him as they are going to pound him over the head. Furthermore, The ABO crowd does not need a distraction down the ticket from the guy at the top who needs Missouri. Get him out of the race...If he refuses, take him to Fort March Park. The party can find someone to take his place who does not foot in mouth disease. What a dope.
Sorry, Fort Marcy Park
You’re nuts.
Might add that the MEDIA is directing this response and playing the tune to which BOTH Romney and Scott dance. What Akins responded with to his poor choice of words (which, if examined more thoroughly and in context of his stated position as a true social conservative on abortion)was rather straightforward. This is posted elsewhere on this thread and NOT at all in national media because it is to the point.
What part of GM or some other corporate RINO need does Claire McKaskill support. I submit it is the Romneycare/Massachusetts approach to public abortion--- the industry of abortion. Of course on obamacare Romney says this is left to the states. If so, he should shut the hell up. Scott is not too bright either, to be opening his mouth, but he needs to, because Fauxahontas will be saying something in her campaign. Poor Scott Brown-- not a conservative.
Hey dude. YOU ARE NOT a resident of Missouri - I am. YOU HAVE NO SAY on who is worthy of office or not in this state. Only those of us that vote here in Missouri do.
We recently had a primary where Mr. Akin easily won. I personnally voted for Steelman because of Palin’s endorsement. However, Akin won the primary, and fairly so. He, of all three candidates, ran NO negative ads. He won based upon his conservative record.
The people of Missouri are sick of McRaskil and this “slip of the tongue” will not keep him from beating her. So, give it a REST. The man is an ARDENT pro-lifer.
He WAS NOT attempting to say rape was OK. He used to WRONG word...as many folks do...when he said “legitimate”...he meant “forcible” rape. I believe the man is very pro-life and doesn’t think there should be rape/incest provisions to allow abortion. Often, the rape/incest provisions are a wedge issue when the reality of the matter is that the pregnancy rate for “forcible rape victums” is much lower than that of normal consensual intercourse. This isn’t rocket science.
The ONLY people calling for his dropping are moderates/liberals. Like I said, I voted for Steelman because of Palin’s endorsement, but have no problem with Akin. Shut up and get off the man’ back. Fools like you are hurting him (someone the is pro-God, pro-Family...FR values) and should get the zot.
KNOCK IT OFF NUMSKULL. Worry about your own state of residence. We WILL eliminat McRascal and do so with Akin. The only other option left, should he resign, would be up to the party establishment. I DO NOT TRUST GOPe types to pick an appropriate candidate. So can the talk.
He should get out.
The cause of winning the Senate and repealing Obamacare and as much of the left wing agenda as possible is far bigger than any individual politician. He just set the cause back. The seat should be easy to win and he put it in jeopardy.
Also, if he is this stupid to fall for this obvious media trap (lefty reporter asking him to comment on some wedge issue that has nothing to do with the issues at hand - economy, debt crisis, etc) he is liable to fall into more traps later when it is too late to change him out.
There is too much at stake here to blow it by rallying behind this guy.
The answer to this questions is YES. And it comes from both Romney and Scott who, uh were active in MA-care, romneycare, whatever and a very lenient view of abortion. Not unlike 2nd Amendment distortion. RINOs all. And, by the way this Akin is the guy THEY (RINOs) supported. Stupid morons.
“Meanwhile, we need to win this senate race...this clown running for the GOP may as well have stepped on a land mine with his ridicules comment. There is no rehabing such a stupid remark.”
Do you live a vote in Missouri???? If not, I submitt you don’t know squat about how Missouri votes think and should SHUT UP. You are actually hurting the chances of getting rid of McRaskil by your rhetoric. Put a cork in sparky.
Missouri voters decide this race, not you. The rural voters of Missouri, where he is popular, WILL NOT be bothered by his verbal mess up. ONLY city voters may, and they typically vote democrat anyway.
Well, if you believe the two Massholes that are calling for Akin to step down.... ie that THEY will repeal obamacare- you have living proof they would prefer McKaskill. Get it?
They are RINOs (moderate/libs) on obamacare-— corporatist, cost-shifting supporters of obamacare. We need guys like Akin to defeat obamacare. But then Harry Reid, with McKaskill helped by Brown et al will prevent repeal. It is a much bigger game. And Romney should just shut up, and stop dancing to the media’s tune. Flip Flop.
Paging Sarah Steelman...
Please respond to a clean-up in the GOP-e Dept...
No but throwing are Senate candidates overboard is an endorsement of Obamacare. They are picking us off 1 x 1 and you are allowing that to happen. This is going to be a tough campaign and conservatives are not tough.
Reference my two other posts. The leanings of Scott Brown and Romney are Massachusetts related.... romneyobamacare... abortion leniency. And they both should shut the hell up. Romney is for state’s rights when the state says what he wants....typical bs. Akin would be wise to be quite vocal back to these... but we are now talking about repub national campaign money trying to maneuver him. They sure didn’t like Steelman in any case. Maybe Akin should ask— what does McKaskill have that you and harry reid want....hmmmm?
