"Top Gun" director Tony Scott fatally jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro on Sunday afternoon, according to Los Angeles police sources.
His body was pulled out of the water by Los Angeles Police Department, California Highway Patrol and U.S. Coast Guard officials.
Investigators found a suicide note in his car, which was parked on the bridge.
Law enforcement sources said several witnesses saw Scott, the brother of director Ridley Scott, climb over a fence on the bridge and jump off.
The coroner's office identified him Sunday evening.
Scott was a respected action-movie director who also made "Enemy of the State," "Beverly Hills Cop II" and "Crimson Tide."

I will in true Christian charity forgive you for your ignorant and uneducated comment.
Your attitudes add misery to those who are afflicated with a clinical depression and many suffering ones often don’t get help or medications because of erroneous “christian” attitudes such as yours.
Have you tried to tell a diabetic or a person with cardiac disease or a broken leg to “change his desires of the heart”?
You pray toGod on how to handle the situation......HE ALWAYS answers.
If you are thinking of suicide, don’t do it.
Your loved ones will pay a terrible price for your actions. Their anger at you, their guilt, their self-doubt will a burden to them for the rest of their lives.
Deal with your own problems, don’t put them on your friends and family.
I do a lot of double posts and some triples.
The system seems to be getting slower. It seems to take about 20-30 seconds to respond lately. Sometimes I go away and come back and click again.
His wife is supposedly saying he did not have brain cancer
Perhaps he didn’t tell her. Im Not saying saying she’s wrong, but many men keep their illnesses from their families.
It’ll be interesting when the news comes out.

Yes.
So?
Thanks. :)
He was athletic & described as an “avid rock climber”.
Besides ‘Pillars.’ I think I’ve only read 3 other books by Ken Follet.
I liked them all.
Eye of the Needle, Lie Down with Lions, and Night Over Water. I could watch the movie version of Eye of the Needle again.
I read some of them. Anyways my local liberry has “The Pillar” DVDs, I reserved them and I’ll be getting them soon.
Thanks!
You are so cool! Great movie, and excellent analysis.
Due to your recommendation I got it and finished it. One of the best movies I saw in years. The last 10 minutes really made it. All the characters were well done. The casting was the best. My favorite was Aliena by the luminous Hayley Atwell. I liked hearing all the English accents throughout. The guys who are making "Game of Thrones" stole a bit from Pillars
Thanks Tony Scott for this masterpiece!
Hayley Atwell.
My second favorite was Ian McShane as Waleran Bigod the evil manipulative priest. What an actor!

So, he jumped off the bridge while he still could.
Rather than let the wife and kids watch him wither away.
Probably also bumped up the inheritance (but only marginally, given how much he was probably worth).
My guess is he was way too rich to bother with silly insurance scams.
Not nearly as rich as his brother, my guess only worth 5 mil at most. I give him supreme credit for “Man on Fire” with Denzel, the only black actor who I like and who exudes on screen credibility||||||| Denzel, one Hollywood guy I would like to have a beer with.
The pieces are in place for a strategic tightening.Gladio and its strategy of tension are said to have originated in the mind of Allen Dulles.
