I’d actually never heard that before, about stress curtailing pregnancy from rape. Wouldn’t doubt it might indeed have some merit. Nonetheless, Aiken’s statement leaves an implication that a woman who actually got pregnant via rape might not be a victim of ‘legitimate rape’ (his words), and thus partly responsible for her pregnancy... which strikes me as, um, kinda sick.

“Legitimate rape” is an oxymoron, like something Joe Biden would say.

Yeah and unlike the Biden brown-nosed rumpswabs on DU, conservatives tend to denounce Biden-like statements from their candidates.

I dont know who Akin is(Since I dont live in MO I didnt follow who the primaries) but when I read that McCaskill was hoping that Akin would win that was a very bad sign. Dems always tell us who they are terrified of, and McCaskill did NOT want to run against Steelman. I really have no idea why Steelman didnt win but it shows me that Palin chooses who she supports VERY carefully. Some dont agree with who she endorses, but considering what is going on now I wish Steelman would have won

He was asked a question. He answered the question.

What's wrong with that?
Would you rather that he evaded answering the question?

I dont think he will lose.

Stupid gaff, but two months is a long time, and no one really holds anything that long in their memory in this 24/7 world of politics.

Legitimate rape?

Sometimes I think the GOP just deserves to lose. This is one of those sometimes.

Wow what a dips__t.

Reminds me of Whoopie Goldberg’s distinction between rape and rape-rape.

I want to know what super efficient internal female parts mechanism exists to “shut the whole thing down!”

Remember Palin wanted Steelman. The Huckabee faction wanted Aiken. Enough said.

This will be all over the news, all week.

Republicans claim rape victims don’t get pregnant. Republicans claim some rape is legitimate?

This guy just blew it all.

yeah, feel free to take every Republican statement at face value—and accept the spin the media puts on it...don’t read it all....just buy it.

Enjoy your private little media-made hell. It’ll never stop.

Did you buy the crap they said about Reagan, too? Palin? Are you going to buy the crap they’re saying about Paul Ryan?

It is all coming down the pike, all to distract from their record.

BTW, Akin also referenced doctors who had spoken to him about it....but let’s ignore that, too, ‘cause the media is trying to scare the ill-informed.

conservatives tend to denounce Biden-like statements from their candidates.

It's an amazing phenomenon.

Liberals sensationalize one remark from a pro-life politician and so-called "conservatives" crawl over each other trying to tear the conservative to pieces.

Even fans of Sarah Palin, who was successfully demonized by the Left, have this Pavlovian response to attack any conservative the Left tell them to.

The Huckabee faction wanted Aiken. Enough said.

And so did Claire McCaskell.

Huckabee: reaching across that partisan divide!

The party has rules to allow substitution by someone else. We could get this done right away, so we’d be practiced up on getting rid of Romney before the campaign.

Some of his campaign or supporters need to be telling this guy what they think.

Sometimes .. what it takes is a “slap in the face” to remind the guy who brought him to the dance. He either has to clean up his act .. or you’re out of there.

Sometimes .. it really works. Happened to a guy here in CA - he finally remembered what party he was affiliated with.

Hey I dont live in MO I just hope that Akin still has a chance of winning. I dont want that prick McCaskill to gain momentum because of this. The media will spin this and spin this because it will help them.
