Our local channel WFTV said Moveon.org was flying a banner plane overhead at the villages which said “Paul Ryan Hands off Our Medicare!” They showed it on the noon news. I am sure they will be flying that everywhere.

“Betrays” me? No. I’m not trying to hide anything.

I know the whole “lofty, self-righteous, angry, pouting purity freak” thing is the favored accusation to hurl, but it doesn’t wash. There’s no such thing as a pure candidate. Right now I’d be almost happy to cast a vote for Bob Dole if it meant getting rid of the current infection. Purity? Nope. I just want a candidate who didn’t engineer cheap abortions and who doesn’t love sodomites.

But I still really like Paul Ryan.

You need to wake up fast! When he told his mom that she built her own business that’s all we needed to hear for the day!! He’s the real deal and understands that for the most part you can’t always legislates from a single party. It’s how you cut the deal that matters, how you cave or don’t cave that matters. Just ask other dems how Ryan negotiates he is as tough as they come.Time we supported him and Romney and stopped with the nitpicking!

Well said!

The "mummies" and "corpses" you allude to in your snarky comments will be your condition and those of your loved ones some day. I hope you'll still be able to raise your arm for America. If not, you will be no less a human being as you seem to think these old folks are.

God Bless America....and God Bless Paul Ryan!

Terrific reply, MinuteGal.

Thank you, Leni! My 81-year old mom lives nearby and even though she is a Rush Babe and adores Mitt and Paul, she wouldn't go to a political rally in the Florida heat...especially on a Saturday morning—she gets her hair done then. :)

I got up at 5 AM this morning and drove from Orlando to The Villages with a friend. It was a typical Florida summer morning, hot and HUMID.

They opened the area up around 7:30...we got there around 8 (got lost..The Villages is HUGE) and waited for 2 hours in the heat/humidity listening to a good country band.

We heard from various high-ranking Villages guys...got the crowd going, then Adam Putnam (former Congressman) and a couple of other local pols.

The entire time there was a small plane circling overhead with a banner saying “ PAUL RYAN- KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OUR MEDICARE”...it was met with disgusted remarks! There were some protestors there- booed Ryan at the beginning.

We sang Proud To Be An American with Lee Greenwood who introduced Ryan...we said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the national anthem.

The crowd was large- but I’ve no way of even guessing how large- though I would say certainly thousands were there. I was standing about 30 feet to the left of Ryan so got to see and hear him closely. He’s passionate, he believes what he’s saying- and he’s tired. I was very impressed with his pace and LACK OF TELEPROMPTER! It was interesting when he mentioned the panel of fifteen who will determine who gets covered for what...several people standing near me said “WHAT?! I didn’t know about THAT”...

The crowd was polite, enthusiastic, and almost ALL over 55. There were 3 young men standing near us who were having a conversation with some “older” people..explaining a lot of what’s WRONG with Obama..they were dressed in t-shirts and shorts- just regular college student types. They were VERY well-informed and are worried about the country.

The security consisted of all kinds of alphabets- but one I didn’t understand was the TSA. WTH was the TSA doing there? They were everywhere. Weird?

Mrs, Ryan (Paul’s mom) looked terrific and VERY happy!!

As we were pulling into The Villages it was raining lightly- it stopped after about 30 minutes. The sun came out and stayed out for the next 2 hours. As soon as Ryan stopped speaking and the crowd began to disperse it started to rain again :)

wow. Let's not get personal and start a flame war or something.

I was commenting on the visual and that Ryan's advance team could have done a better job.

I thought the speech was great as I watched it live on TV, not in person. The person behind the gentleman with the flag shirt was jumping up and down but no one could see her enthusiasm. for the record, he was able to raise a camera to eye level to photograph the crowd and back of Ryan.

My apologizes to anyone who took offense to my comments about the advance team who selected individuals to stand behind Ryan that showed no enthusiasm.

No harm, no foul.

Sarah Palin was a gimmick.
Paul Ryan is for the serious voter.

The characteristic that most motivates me about Ryan is that he CLEARLY enlightens the minds of voters

He talks to us like an adult with a clear view of problems and solutions.

No gimmicks , just straight talk.

Your sort of dogmatic purist spends all their time shooting their own allies in the back for not being pure enough.

You are a Democrat proapanda bot in everything but name. Your sort of "conservative" are the useful idiots of the Democrat Party propaganda machine.

I hope that is all it is and he isn’t used to speaking so much either. He must be so pumped up and that is exhausting.

He can eat some of his mama’s cooking and spring right back!

Then you will be lonely and powerless. To win elections, candidates need to appeal to a large segment of voters. Otherwise one loses the election and then has no power to change anything. One becomes irrelevant and is soon forgotten on the ash heap of has beens.

Examples: Sharon Angle, Joe Miller in AK, Hoffman in NY-23,
Sharron Angle in NV, Christine O’Donell in DE, Buck in CO,
JD Hayworth in AZ.

If you want to follow the crowd above, my sympathies to you.

Good point John. I sense they fear him as well.He knows how they think and is not afraid to take them on.When I think how Palin has been savaged by the DBM it lets me know just how effective she is.They will never stop savaging her.

I gotta tell ya I am still super pissed she does not have a major speaking role at the convention, but you can't have it all I guess.
