WASHINGTON -- A White House spokesman says President Barack Obama is disappointed by the two-year prison sentence imposed on a punk band in Russia for protesting president Vladimir Putin (POO'-tihn).
The sentence handed down to the provocative band Pussy Riot follows a trial seen around the world as an emblem of Russia's intolerance of dissent.

Don’t read too much into Putin being ex-KGB, he isn’t about ideology, but about power....if the Czar was still in power, he would have served the Czar. He admired the Soviet Union’s power, but not its’ internal economic policies.
The funny part is - these women in their closing statements compared their trial to Stalin’s “troikas” and “purges”... Stalin would have show trials and execute his opponents. Lucky for these women, they’re not really living in a Stalinist regime.

The assault started out as a defense of dissidents' right to not participate in school or public prayer; but gradually morphed into a denial of the right of the Faithful to have school or public prayer.
Frankly, I commend Russia for not following the idiotic example of what our Leftists have accomplished--for the time being, at least.
