In a letter sent to Mitt Romneys campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, this morning his counterpart on the Obama campaign, Jim Messina promised to let up on their criticism of Mr. Romney for not releasing more of his tax returns if he releases five years worth of returns. Mr. Messina said this offer should address any fears on Mr. Romneys part that that the more he offers, the more our campaign will demand that he provide.

Somehow I have a visual of Lucy pulling away that football. Birth cert and college records for tax returns. Come on Mitt don’t fall for this crap.
I'm not sure that would be enough. Obama's transcripts might show he was a terrible student, undeserving of admission to Columbia and Harvard Law School. But would the transcripts show that was admitted as a foreign student, and claimed not to be a US citizen, or actually rescinded his US citizenship?
So I don't think Romney should release any more tax records. Romney has nothing to gain. This issue is meaningless to anyone who might vote for Romney. They already know he's wealthy. If the "politics of envy" motivated them, they'd be Democrats.
Romney should simply provide a release to the IRS to show his filing history, not the documents, just the history of having filed tax returns. Period, end of story about his not filing. I would tell his excellency we are providing only this after you are release ALL the files you have under presidential seal to not release, like college application files, transcripts, all birth certificates, passport files, social security files you have used etc. Put it out there in writing and give it to the lamestreetmedia so they can do some research, hopefully.
College records, I assumed, would include admission record and applications for financial aid.
Romney should tell them to pound sand.
Exactly right. It doesn’t matter what is in his tax returns; the evil bastards will manufacture mud and slime out of thin air.
This is called chumming for crappie. He hopes to return the conversation to all the crappie no one cares about except the media.
It is like this, as Obama is getting his butt kicked. So he has to chum the water with with something smelly for the media so to divert their attention off of substance we have been seeing regarding $716 billion from medicare.
He knows that his base was about to take the hook. Obama must get his fish to follow the smell he is putting into this campaign.
I understand Romney has already told them to pound sand.
Romney, tell them to go f*** themselves.
This tax return thing is meaningless. No one that counts, cares a hoot!!! Obama is toast. Mitt’s tax returns are not going to save Obama/Biden. General Motors is crusing to a second bankruptcy. USA car sales for General Motors are terrible!!! Obama, GM and the United Auto Workers are going down...but...only after swindling the USA taxparer for billions of dollar that they threw away at a failing business.
The short list
State senate papers
Academic transcripts
Book proposal
Medical records
Small-dollar donors
Official Birth Records
The Khalidi tape
The real White House guest list
Countless FOIA requests
Health reform negotiations
Fast and Furious documents
The weight of the Wookie
I’d guess that obamas cohorts have already got Romney’s tax records for ten years, and have found something in the past five years they think they can use against him...however privacy laws make it a felony to release them without Romney’s permission.
The dems have lowered their “price” by dropping the demand to five years, so they’re losing the negotiation. Romney should have enough horse-trading savvy to not fall for this. He’s given them two years, and that’s enough.
The fact that the IRS hasn’t gone after Romney proves that his returns are in order, and further proves that Obama only wants them to facilitate further class warfare.
Obama’s record proves he never wins without disqualifying his opponent, or cheating.
The Obama camp is disparate, otherwise this “offer” would have never been made.
They are trying to perpetuate the distraction.
Fk off, Barky.
Was the letter signed by Lucy?
Romney could have made this all go away early by showing checks he wrote to IRS, without details.
