Just as you were ready to tuck into a nice three-egg omelet again, comforted by the reassuring news that eggs are not so bad for you, here comes a study warning that for those over 40, the number of egg yolks consumed per week accelerates the thickening of arteries almost as severely as does cigarette smoking.
Server, can you make that an egg-white omelet instead, please?

Complete bullsh*^. Low carb diets have proven over and over that eggs, meat, poultry etc are good for cholesterol, triglyceride levels and blood pressure. Read Dr. Atkins for gosh sakes.
I wish they would make up their minds.
I’ll keep dipping my bacon in the egg yolk until they pry it from my Cold Dead Hands.
I cook my eggs with olive oil. Screw this report.
I guess I will do what I want since I live in a semi-free nation for now.
What would Michelle do?
I wish they would make up their minds.

They never will. Can’t give up the gubmint cheese for funding their ‘studies’.
Like the ubiquitous ‘coffee studies’ that come out about every month.
Some people manufacture cholesterol in their bodies and some don’t. It’s not as simple as just how much of it you eat. Personally, I follow meats and eggs with a dose of fruit acids: orange juice and cranberry jelly are my favorites. It helps neutralize the fat components.
I’m so damned confused by all of these healthy food studies I’m about ready to starve myself to death.
I think I’ll still have that bacon and Cheese omlet thank you.
Olive oil? Have you ever tried cooking them in butter?
This appears to be an association study based on patient recollection of what they eat. These types of studies have lots of limitations. Further, an association doesn’t necessarily constitute causation (e.g. 80% of patients who died had eaten a tomato in the preceding 6 months, suggesting that eating a tomato increases the risk of death).
So, I’m gonna have to cut back to a six pack? Dang.
I wish they would make up their minds.
Then they wouldn’t have jobs. If they don’t come up with some crap every now and then their “research” would be eliminated. Eggs=bad=job security. IMHO, of course.
Try as we might, nothing can save us from our appointed time.
Lets see. First it was eggs are bad for you. Then it was, oops, we were wrong and eggs are good for you. Now it’s oops again, we were wrong and eggs are bad for you again.
It’s not just Atkins. Numerous studies have shown co-incidence of LDL cholesterol reduction in conjunction with a whole egg/fatty (not salty) breakfast meat breakfast.
I eat my eggs either scrambled or in an omelet with two slices of Wright brand low sodium bacon three to five times a week, no bread, glass of 2% milk, and my total cholesterol plummeted from 175 to 129 and has held steady under 130 for 18 months. LDL is under 100 and HDL is consistently over 50.
Omega 6 fatty acids (often found in breads and grains) have been shown to actually increase inflammation in the arteries, thus increasing the risk of a cardiac event. Omega 3s have the opposite effect. I also take a daily fish oil supplement and eat a lot of fish/seafood.
... almost as severely as does cigarette smoking.
Then I’m not too worried.
BTW, our chickens started laying about two weeks ago. We have a few roosters because we learned that fertilized eggs do not have the health risks unfertilized eggs do.
Increases the risk of finding a bone, though.
I hope we’re not paying for the damned “conclusion of the day studies”.
I wish they would stop giving them space to report this crap as news. They’ve only changed their minds about 70 times on this haven’t they?
