Just sitting at a local watering hole/sports bar, lots of games running silently...today the Orioles are playing the Red Sox, and just a few minutes ago I saw a pro-Obama ad run!
Now I realize MASN reaches farther than Maryland, but I've gotta think MOST of their viewers come from that area....I just find it surprising Obama is running ads in a supposedly SAFE area.
Probably aimed at Virginia.
Not sure.
When I saw the govt induced prosperity in the beltway area this spring, I figured Baraq was a lock there.
It was so strange not seeing 50% of the commercial buildings with “for lease” and “available” signs like here in the midwest.
He’s running ads in California. You can’t tell me there are any swing states within that media sphere. The Kenyan Cretin is trying to avoid the first ever Electoral Vote shutout.
Just saw another one claiming Obamugabe didn’t cut work for welfare!
I’d think Maryland is out of reach for RR. Stranger things have happened, but not much stranger. I thought that nitwit senator McClousky or whatever her name is might have lost in 2010. No go there.
Try playing the gay marriage card pretty hard. That might help. And illegal immigration. Even MD blacks might be against O’s positions here, and maybe if they start to balk at O, this could rub off on other states.
Yeah, maybe Virginia...but MASN is an awful narrow demographic, don’t you think?
I wonder if where the ads are being run has more to do with payoff to cronies or “friends of Obama” than whether the ad buy makes strategic sense. A lot of money is going out the door. My suspicion is that much is being squandered, and that is why Obama keeps asking desperately for $3.00 donations.
Yep. Virginia and maybe even Delaware.
I’m in Connecticut watching the same game and I saw the same ad
I could see that being an explanation.

Lots of Obamba commercials here in No Az as well
republicangel is probably right - aimed at Virginia voters - but old geographical lines are made for a reason, right?
During the Olympics, I saw some...in Kansas...and my market does not overlap other states. Barry has no chance here.
I think it may have been that he just bought the ad to run nationally. I’m sure his people could have made individual ad buys in selected markets; but, that takes effort...and his followers have a habit of throwing money at things, before exerting effort.
Some of this may be a ‘coat-tails’ thing, where the DNC agrees to fund some ads, but only if it gets run in no win states like Kansas...the hope being that some lost soul will be drawn to the polls by Barry, and vote straight ticket, perhaps helping in a more local race.
Or it may be that he is acting like this is 2008, when he outspent Mccain 3 to 1. Its the biggest unreported story of the election. Barry was able to pay ‘volunteers’, operate an all Barry cable network, purchase a 30 minute infomercial (from a fake Oval Office) during prime time, and generally spend Mccain into submission. He won’t be able to do that this year; but, he may not want to believe that...so he needlessly spends money in Maryland and Kansas.

Ads on MASN will reach both Virginia and Pennsylvania, both now considered battleground states.
Not a bad buy. I’m more impressed that I’ve seen Obama commercials being aired on NESN out of Boston for Red Sox games...
They ran Obama ads in 2008 too. Aimed at northern Virginia.
Probably! You would think Massachusetts was safe as well and they have been non-stop for months. I can’t stand seeing his mug 7-8 times every single day. I’ve only seen a few Romney ads. I wish he would infiltrate this state since he was the governor. He should try harder!
But there is an argument to be made for national ad buys. Sure, it’s easier and probably cheaper per capita. And it is going to affect national polling numbers, which could affect perceptions about the race. Also, it definitely will affect the TV + web as far as the nature of arguments made on behalf of the candidates. And it sometimes is hard to predict which states are effectively swing states. Personally, I hope Romney makes more national ad buys, especially of this ad, which may be the greatest political ad ever created: http://hotair.com/archives/2012/08/14/oh-my-new-romney-ad-hits-obama-on-medicare/
Could be. But could also be part of a campaign to suck up more donation dollars from the true believers.
