Wasn’t this guy(Pickens) pushing wind energy a little while ago?

Yeah, and the subsidies needed to go with it. (He called it a taxpayer investment or the ever popular “Public private partnership”.

Picken’s Wind Power push got killed because of insufficient electric transmission lines from Texas Panhandle and natural gas making electricity much cheaper and more reliably than wind.

Yes. Pickens was pushing wind energy in order to get Government funding for his wind energy investments. Think creating his own Solondra (sp).

I have come to the conclusion that T. Boone Pickens is only another opportunist looking for tax dollars to fund his ventures.

Yes, and not only that, the timing of his ads seemed to be a direct rebuttal to “Drill here, drill now.” I certainly got the impression that Pickens was campaigning for Obama.

He certainly was pushing wind power.
He put his money where his mouth was, and lost 150 million dollars in wind power investments. -Tom

Exactly. The guy is full of crap.

"Energy independence" is an illusory pipe-dream, and I'm not sure why anyone would aspire to something like that anyway. We rely on "foreign oil" from OPEC nations for the same reason we rely on Asia for electronics, on South America for bananas, and on Mexico for our landscapers and restaurant staff: because that's where these things usually are cheapest.

Yes but he is primarily a gas man now. He is on Cavuto from time to time and ticks off reasons for implementing policies favoring gas. The main one is to develop gas for use in place of diesel fuel in the 18 wheelers. That change alone would result in reordering the fuel business and need for imports.

He has the numbers and makes a very convincing case. He is sort of Ryan like, down to earth, unpretentious, humble.
