Some Establishment GOP Consultants Don't Want the Romney-Ryan Ticket to Win

RUSH: Now, folks, stop what you're doing and look at me for a second. There are two stories out today, one from TheHill.com and the other from Politico. They essentially say the same thing. The Hill: "Republicans strategists are worried that Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) addition to the presidential ticket will cost their party House and Senate seats this fall. Their concern: Democrats will successfully demonize Ryan’s budget plan, which contains controversial spending cuts and changes to Medicare."

If we are to believe this, what's happening is... By the way, not one of these Republican in either story is named. And they say that they don't want to be named because they want to be able to be fully, 100% honest with no recriminations. Not one name. The Politico talks about 30 of them, but TheHill.com not that many. The stories are the same. These are unnamed Republican strategists, unnamed Republican campaign consultants, unnamed Republican managers.

They are just petrified that Ryan is such a bad pick that he's going to lose the Senate. He loses any chance of the Republicans winning the Senate and may cause the Democrats to win the House. Now, here's the question: Is this true or is this a story that TheHill.com and the Politico have had waiting in the drawer for any nominee, and then they just plugged in the name and changed some of the reasons? Because have we ever seen any articles in TheHill.com or the Politico or anywhere else in the Drive-By Media about how Obamacare would hurt the Democrats in 2010?

Did we ever see such a story?

Were there nameless Democrats who called up TheHill.com and the Politico and said, "Hey, psst? I don't want to go on record here with my name but let me tell you something: We're going to get creamed. This Obamacare is going to destroy us. I'm really worried we're going to lose the House in 2010." Did we ever see that story? We never do, do we? We never see stories where unnamed Democrat consultants are worried that something Obama's doing or Biden's doing or that they're doing together is really, really going to be problematic, really hurt the Democrats.

We got this story after Palin was nominated, except now we know the names. We know with Palin it was happening. We know that there were Republicans undermining her from the day she was nominated. There were Republicans who were assigned to her during that campaign who tried to undermine her. There were people on the Republican side who helped spread this idea that she was a dolt. So it is believable to me on one level that we have some Republicans who are worried about Ryan.

But they're really not worried that he's going to cause us to lose the Senate, and they're really not worried that he's going to cause us to lose the House. What they're worried about is that the conservative wing of the party is going to be able to lay claim to victory here. And that they -- these unnamed establishment Republican consultants and what have you, they -- are the ones who are going to lose their positions of power and influence because they aren't on board with this.

So I don't for a moment... The Republican Party, you and I both know, has in it some saboteurs. We know it from four years ago. We know that the Republican establishment is made up of many people who dislike conservatives almost as much as the Democrats do. We've talked about it on this program. We have provided evidence of this for you. We know that this is one of the fundamental battles that was going on during the whole primary season, in fact. But that doesn't automatically make these stories true.

Here they are happening on the same day.

No names.

But a bunch of Republican "strategists" and "consultants" that the Politico reports and The Hill reports are buddy-buddy with, these people feel comfortable enough with these reporters to call them up and say, "You know what? I'm worried that Ryan. It's horrible. We're going to lose everything." Here's how TheHill.com story starts: "Republicans strategists are worried that Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) addition to the presidential ticket will cost their party House and Senate seats this fall.

"Their concern: Democrats will successfully demonize Ryan’s budget plan, which contains controversial spending cuts and changes to Medicare." Let me tell you something: Obamacare is 15,000 times as unpopular as Ryan's plan is. If these Republicans actually exist and if this is actually true -- if they are actually calling and making these statements -- they need to be ashamed. Do they not know...?

Why do they not understand it's Obama and the Democrats who are the opposition? What's in it for them for the Democrats to win? And when you answer that question, then you'll have an idea what's going on. What's in it for these Republicans for the Democrats to win? And make no mistake: There are Republicans happy to be losers if it keeps them in the money and in positions of power in a second-tier party, as opposed to out of power in a first-tier party.

Where are these 30 strategists? Do the Republicans even have 30 strategists who are saboteurs? I know we've got some. But do we have that many? Haven't they all joined that No Labels crowd by now? Maybe that's where they're coming from. They're not identified. We don't know. The Hill story even mistakenly puts Ryan at the top of the ticket twice in terms of the fears that the GOP strategists have. So I just wanted to alert you. I just wanted to warn you.

We make the mistake of thinking that if we have an (R) by the name that we're all on the same team. We're not. I was talking about it last week. You know, Byron York called me. He said, "When Andrea Saul screwed up, you guys called her out on it. Democrats never do that. When Harry Reid goes out there and makes a fool of himself or Dan Rather makes a fool of himself, all the Democrats circle the wagons and defend their people. How come you don't do that?"

I said, "Well, because we're not unified. They are. They have one purpose. The Democrats exist for one reason: To beat us."

Folks, this is profoundly important. You may think it's simplistic, but it isn't. The Democrat Party is made up of many different constituency groups. You have the environmentalist whackos and feminazis and Big Labor. They all have their own separate interests and sometimes they conflict. But they remain unified, despite their conflicting objectives. How do they stay unified?

The one objective that they all share is wipe us out. Because if there's no opposition, they will all get what they want. And so their number one enemy is us: Conservatives and most Republicans. That's the cohesive substance: Their absolute hatred of us winning. That's why they hang together. But the Republican Party is not so oriented. The Republican Party does not think that its primary objective is to wipe out Democrats, so we're not unified as they are.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here is an excerpt from the Politico piece. I gave you an excerpt from TheHill.com piece earlier. Here's the Politico piece: "[T]here is an unmistakable consensus among Republican operatives..." unmistakable consensus! "in Washington: Romney has taken a risk with Ryan that has only a modest chance of going right -- and a huge chance of going horribly wrong." Maybe it's time we hired some other Republican operatives and sent these operatives packing. Talk about being on the wrong page.

The thread is the barometer of HATE brought to the GOP by Mitt Romney.

His HATE extends against Gov. Palin, conservatives,
and ANYONE not on their knees who dares question Mr. RomneyCARE.

A number of seniors will be afraid of Ryan’s Medicare plan because they won’t know it doesn’t apply to them. Those seniors, out of ignorance, will vote Hussein. Due to that, I think Florida has gone into the “iffy” column, don’t know if it will go Democrat or Republican.

Gotta remember that Jonah Goldberg said last year his GOP buddies told him they were against Newt Gingrich in the primary because they were more terrified that Newt would win the election against Obama than that he would lose. All I can say is these people are not on our side. They seem to hate conservatives and their only goal seems to be to turn the Republican party into a liberal party. If we don’t put up liberal candidates, they’d rather see us lose.

I’m just truly not a huge fan of most Republican/conservative political operatives at this point, and particularly not of ones of the sort who shot their filthy whore mouths off for those articles.

I am not convinced there is anyone behind the ‘nameless’. It’s smoke and mirror time. I believe nothing of what I read anymore unless it comes from the person themselves.

If you are still interested - find out who keeps voting with the left.

I didn't hear this before. Where did you read it? Hands down Newt is the Best Candidate for America. Obama would not have had a chance PLUS Newt would be the one to repeal and change the boy's errors.

Actually, Ryan is polling well with the seniors in Florida. Those that watched CNN yesterday saw Blitzer take Debbie Wasserman apart on this issue.

We’ll take Florida back.

Totally agree. DECEPTION begets DECEPTION.

Sorta like your parents telling you to stay away from certain kids, they know the chances of you becoming just like them. The one bad apple spoils the rest thing......

The democrats can unite feminists, queers, enviro-nuts, illegal aliens, blacks, unions, college kids, movie stars, billionaires and their foundations, the welfare class, PETA and Code Pink all pulling in the same direction.

Yeah, the party of 'anyone' or 'anything'!

Plus this week we found out the Dems have cornered the market on pansexuals.

I didn't hear this before. Where did you read it? Hands down Newt is the Best Candidate for America. 2nd paragraph in the article below. It just shows that this is a long, recurring theme among the GOP operatives. And I believe the Politico article because I believe Jonah when he said basically the same thing. Plus I spent months watching RINO after RINO endorse Romney and talk down the real conservatives in the primary. So I'm not surprised at all that as soon as a conservative gets on Romney's ticket, the GOP establishment knives come back out.

I also don't believe it's because they think Ryan will cause the ticket to lose. It's because they don't want the ticket to win. They could be projecting or scheming, I don't know. But I know that a real conservative would value their principles so much that they would be enthusiastic about fighting for them in an election. They would not be so lacking in confidence that they think conservative values would make it impossible to win at the ballot box.

Not sure the vote is much about Romney as it is about voting for improved odds on Life and Liberty.

I’ll be voting for 3 Republican Houses. Better odds for us than only having 2.

The character of the individual occupying the Presidency has proven to be meaningless. My only concern is the net effect, and it’s hard to image any benefits with another Obama term.

Just stating a perspective, not twisting arms.

Yeah, we all did. Voters have to be savy and they are NOT. IGNORE ENDORSEMENTS. It's their political propaganda in action to sway the voter. They 'use' voters for their agenda and the clueless fall for the bait.

So I'm not surprised at all that as soon as a conservative gets on Romney's ticket, the GOP establishment knives come back out.

Voters need to learn to not listen. It can only have an effect if they listen because they want to plant seeds of doubt. If they don't listen, they FAIL!

No anger here. I was at the rally Saturday in Norfolk. met both men and their families... I`m good with them going forward to take on Obama. If you want to wallow in whatever has you discontented, go for it.

Remember you brought up those accusations - they are in you somewhere!

And really now... the “Romney = Obama” stuff doesn’t hold water.

Really? And I guess you expect Romney will actually repeal Obama's sovietizing, Democrat-entrenching laws and E.O.'s?

Good luck with that.

So, how's your French? and Mandarin? You do speak the language(s) of the New World Order, don't you? You don't? How typically American. That's okay -- you can work for scum wages (the "world wage") same as Calcutta's and live in a hovel while the tony Masters of the Universe drive by in their Maybach Zeppelins to the stables or the spa.

As they've always known in Europe, class will tell, even in America.

Thanks for falling into line. I'm sure you'll be treated (relatively) well.
