Mitt Romney’s Buckeye brushback: Will Paul Ryan lose Ohio for the GOP? [LOL!]
yahoo ^ | 8/14/12 | Jeff Greenfield

Posted on 08/14/2012 11:34:29 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

...As I traveled through central Ohio last week--before Mitt Romney chose Paul Ryan for his ticket--I heard a constant refrain that Rob Portman, the Republican senator from Ohio, could provide Romney with the margin of victory in the state in November.

And it wasn’t just from Republicans like Rep. Pat Tiberi (who would have been a leading contender to fill Portman’s Senate seat had he won). “Senator Portman on the ticket would help tremendously in southwestern Ohio, where he's from,” Tiberi said. “That is the Republican bastion of the state, and that's where he would help, I think, drive up support for the Romney ticket.”

Jeff Greenfield wrote a column a couple weeks ago saying Obamugabe isn't giving anyone a reason to vote FOR him.

And now, someone else has posted an article detailing how Romney has BLOWN IT in Florida with the Ryan pick. :)

I love how liberals bend over backwards because to try and prop up the biggest failure in America; the occupier Obamugabe.

Portman wasn’ going to help with Ohio.

The only major states Romney has a shot at flipping are NC, FL and CO. PA is gone and OH is close to gone.

MSM

“Its not like Ryan has a connection with OH or anything...”

“Wait he went to Miami, OH and has previously given the commencement address?”

Nevermind...

“Senator Portman on the ticket would help tremendously in southwestern Ohio, where he's from,” Tiberi said. “That is the Republican bastion of the state"

Pretty idiotic statement if you ask me. If this is the republican bastion of the state, he shouldn't need much help in order to carry it right?

I like Portman. I very much doubt he'd have done much to carry counties like Cuyahoga and Summit where he's probably about as well known as Ryan.

If Ohio goes for Obama, the voters will exhibit more stupidity that Portman could have possibly hoped to counter-react.

Frankly, as a multi-generational Cincinnatian, I think that Ryan will actually help the ticket more in Southern Ohio than would Portman. Portman is a nice guy, but does not fire people up. Ryan is a truly exciting candidate, who really understands the economic issues.

Frankly, everyone I have talked to, so far, is really enthusiastic over the choice.

Most Ohioans don’t know who Portman or Ryan is. Most Ohioans will like Ryan.

OH is close to gone.

No it's not. I'll agree that it's pretty even, but it's not close to gone.

I live in Ohio. I like Portman. He’s a good guy. But I love the choice of Ryan. And my federally employed DH agrees.

Oh, but haven't you read it here or heard the pundits (or maybe you have), Paul Ryan is going to make him lose all of those states and more.S/

While in fact, $3.5 in donations came in on Saturday, and crowds have been overflowing.

It is 89 days until the election, and too soon to call!

I’m sure Greenfield’s article about how Obama’s EPA rules closing coal mines in OH could cause the loss of usual union votes will be following up next week.

When was the last time that Greenfield was right about anything?

I wouldn't say PA is gone.

After all, in 2010, we put a Republican in the Governor’s Mansion, gave Republicans the majority in both the State House and State Senate, sent Pat Toomey to the US Senate, replaced a lot of the PA DemonRats in the US House with Republicans and to top it all off, have enacted Voter ID this election.

Now I'm not saying it won't be close. It's gonna be a real squeaker. But don't rule PA out just yet!

Not like California!

Pfftt. I always have high hopes for PA and end up being disappointed. Clinton, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Obama.

If PA turns I'll personally drive there, pay their outrageous tolls on their perpetually under-construction turnpike, and drink one of their crappy beers.
