Why, no, because that reference was a response to another post.
What I find unsettling -- no, pitiful is the word -- is how people, when reminded of a truth that they'd rather not face, can muster no response other than a personal attack.
I find it unsettling that some people are completely unable to reconcile themselves to truth of the fallibility of the men in the Church. Experience has taught me that these same people cannot face their own shortcomings, and cannot be reasoned with, and I find it disappointing that there are so many of them in the Church; esp when the cardinal virtue is humility -- it is very disappointing to find it so thoroughly absent.
Wow! God bless him! I can honestly say I’ve witnessed and been part of a similar scene. See this old thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1137912/posts?page=4#4
Actually, no, I am a practicing Catholic.
JFK did have SOME redeeming qualities and he really didn’t win, His father bought him that election.
Based on the description, I expected to see the priest set apart and praying, and then surrounded by the protesters. I still feel his witness would have been clearer and more emphatic if he had stayed apart, and not visually joined in as one of the protesters. IOW, I question his tactics - not his courage or faithfulness. Anyone passing by the scene (out of earshot, and without access to the video) could well have misinterpreted it as I did.

I was wrong. I'm certain the priest would forgive me for my misinterpretation.
I rejoice to learn that he was true to his calling!
Mea culpa!!
FYI
“people, when reminded of a truth that they’d rather not face”
How about people who are annoyed at yet another repetition of a falsehood?
The number of child molesters among priests was and is very, very small. Most of the offenders were ordinary, garden variety sodomites who are interested in the post-pubescent, not children.
I know what you were responding to, and it doesn’t make your comment any less a “turd in the punchbowl.”
Embroidering your faux pas with some inane “fallibility of men” sermon to find fault with your critics only serves to justify the “personal attacks” you’ve received.
..unwarranted crass comment, it just galls me. It’s so stupid and pointless.

Explain to me the difference between one voting FOR someone JUST BECAUSE he is Catholic, Jewish, Black, White etc as to someone NOT voting for someone with the main reason being he is Catholic, Jewish, etc etc etc....
My only point was that Blacks today openly supporting a Black is no different than in 1960 Irish in particular and Catholics in general voting for JFK just because he was ‘one of them’.
I don’t know who I would have voted for in 1960.
I was a R coming from a D ‘background’ and it was the first Pres Election I could vote but was in Japan and voting was not one of my ‘priorities’.
Source for your statement, please. Or are you a seer of the past?
Why shouldn’t he have the right to say his Rosoary there. He has a right to free speech, too, doesn’t he?
It has passed. Seminaries are bulging now with straight young men who want to be priests.
As soon as the Pope and the American Bishops get the nuns in line, you will see straight and chaste young women become nuns and wearing habits.
Blessings to you.
Thank you.

I did NOT say he didn’t have a right to say his ROSARY there.
In fact I said he has a right.
I was just questioning if it was the wisest thing to do.
Much like if a ‘minority’ strays into a ‘white’ neighborhood they say “He has a right to be there”.
If a white strays into a ‘minority’ neighborhood they say “He should have know better than to be there”.
Just because you have a ‘right’ to do something doesn’t mean you should.
Thank you.
What good has been accomplished with this post?
No sweat! They tell me I made a mistake once.
Your reply says much more about you than your initial post.
Guttersnipes.
