The federal government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security, is buying up huge amounts of ammunition and there seems to be no end in sight. Again, this is nothing new as the DHS has refused to explain their purchase of 450 million hollow points and has ordered "up to" 650-750 million rounds of ammo and also seems to be looking for more weapons as well.

Great question and I am glad you asked.
Lot I Base year. 10,303,000
Lot II 11,378,000
Lot III 12,530,000
Lot IV 13,780,000
Lot V 15,158,000
all things considered ( like border patrol can’t fire on people without being prosecuted ( many such instances) the real question is why are they ordering ANY????
I can't answer for somebody else.
Write the guy who wrote the article/produced the video and ask him.
I found it more interesting that there was such a wide variety being sought.
1- eat up supply
2- spend end of year budget...(use it or lose it)
3- drive up cost
4- All the above while they’re still in power.
Still, 65 - 75 million rounds is a hell of a lot of ammo when combined with the original 450 million rounds, NOAA and recent SSA request for 174,000 Rounds of .357 Ammo.
Some questions that come to mind are:
Why the urgent need (notice the short delivery times)?
Why are such large quantities needed?
Why .357 caliber?
Is this related to the shut down of Ruger sales to the general public?
Does Ruger have a secret contract to produce huge numbers of arms for the government; some in .357 caliber?
Who will be taking delivery?
Will the SSA distribute arms and ammo out to certain groups like it does with commodity cheese?
Something is going down here and the government doesn't want the public to know for some reason.
The same drug thug groups that they had sold to via Fast & Furious...
Good point.
IMO, government is only stocking in advance for security/police. Some offices had difficulties finding enough ammunition for training during the last craze, and the later they wait, the higher the prices and pressures on their budgets.
There’s also the current, popular trend in politics of more frequently published hysterics. A few people in every demographic group and line of work are affected, of course, and others in the various groups are using attempted instigations of panic and hysteria (conspiracy yarns, exaggerations of possible natural disasters and so on) to compete for more of the cheese (debt/revenues).
I doubt that most of us, by and large, are getting very excited about the new fad in creative writing and broadcasting. True conservatives (old fashioned people like myself) are probably too cynical (and frugal and busy with personal work) by now toward special interests to be swept up by their efforts. I must admit, though, that I find the fabricated scenarios, stories and commentaries fascinating and often funny.
We don' need no steenking badgers.
Eggs-zackly.

Reducing nuke stockpile. Internal security forces - ie "we need a civilian military AS STRONG as ou military". Cutting regular military down - a sizeable part of which is operating under UN command or fulfilling UN objectives. Disarming citizens. The latest UN small arms treaty crap. Destroying the last superpower by killing the economy and creating economic crises by printing money like water. Getting ready to Cyprus our 401k's into "government bonds" and private bank savings into "stock/equity in the bank" your money's in - worse than FDIC-insured. Not far fetched as he hates America, walked around for months with the Post-America book he was reading, has all national intelligence assets looking at anyone who is "anti-government" (anti-Obama) as a threat. (And in case you didn't know, Freedom From War, the UN treaties do not allow civillians to remain armed - which means confiscation, by force if necessary.)
Do not think they will not take your supplies as well, as these emergency orders will also allow them to take any of your property they need. Once they disarm you it won't be hard.
This is what it's all about. In its "Second Annual Report to Congress" (February 1963), the ACDA presented a simple graphic depiction (see top of next page) demonstrating its proposed three-stage disarmament process:
