Palin will not speak at Republican convention
WASHINGTON | Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:36pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will not speak at the Republican nominating convention in Tampa later this month, she said in statement on Sunday.

"This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I'm excited to hear them," Palin, who was Senator John McCain's running mate in the 2008 election, said in a statement on Gretawire, the blog of Fox News's Greta Van Susteren.

I once listened to my young sister argue with a parrot. She lost.

One darn thing for sure is “we” are not for Romney either but our disdain for Obama far outweighs being unnecessarily critical to the only one who is in a position to unseat the Dear Leader of the left.

Seems like “we” have cobbled an economy in our respective states where we are not fatalists and soldier on not complaining about our lot but doing absolutely everything we can to change it. Does Wisconsin, Florida and Texas have any meanings where “we” have turned things around?

The truth shall set you free, but at first it will make you miserable. Time for a few “patriots” in New England to receive their overdue dose of reality and only you have the ability to turn the rudder in your respective states at least ten degrees instead of letting it go on autopilot complaining that ten degrees is not enough.

In those states you mentioned, I tip my hat to you.

It is easy to sit in where ever you are and criticize MA conservatives and republicans. I think what we did in electing Scott Brown a couple of years ago shows we can pull it together.

The issue here is that even in the most conservative areas you get drowned out. And, quite honestly it is difficult to give a crap when you know it means nothing. We do what we can, where we can.

Given that we STARTED the last revolution, I think we can get a little break from conservatives in other states.

Getting back to the original points of my posts—I just get frustrated when folks who CAN make a difference get all worked up over what Sarah is going to do, or not do. Sarah’s time is not now. Perhaps later, but not now. And there are tons of people on Free Republic who worship her to a degree that it gets in the way of what we CAN do now.

And to your point of letting go of the rudder? Voting for Romney even here in MA is a wasted vote. I will turn the lever for him, but he will NEVER win Mass. Never EVER. It is a simple fact of life around here.

The best we will be able to do for the cause is make sure a stake goes in Barney’s chest...let him sail away to Block Island with his “wife” “husband” or whatever they call each other. We will put Scott Brown back too. Not Reagan, but not Elizabeth Warren either.

Thank you for being civil. That doesnt happen much around here these days.

This wouldn’t be done during the Republican Convention. We have the numbers so why not show our power? I would also like to see Sarah’s PAC begin to take over from the so-call C-PAC which is controlled by svengali Grover Norquist friend of the jihad.

One good thing, at least the Republicans know they are being played for suckers I am not sure that the Democrats get it yet.

It is miraculous that Ronald Reagan was able to get through the obstacle course.

Did you hear Limbaugh on Fox News saying that the Republican Party has no ideology? That was stunning.

No, as a matter of fact, I didn't. I'm glad, however, that Limbaugh agrees with me...

“Yeah, and George Washington quit when he retreated from New York rather than face certain annihilation in an unfriendly environment (New York was full of Loyalists) that limited his maneuvering room.

One must sometimes reposition in order to strike back and eventually win. History is full of General Custer’s who just refused to acknowledge reality and give up some ground when necessary. Sarah has handled things admirably in this regard and is now a more powerful force for conservatism than she could possibly have been in the Little Big Horn of the Alaska Governors Mansion.”

“Sarah speaking at romney’s convention would be like Led Zeppelin opening for the Monkey’s.”

LOL! Literally. If my kids were here right now they’d be asking me why I’m cracking up. :) That is the perfect comparison.

*still laughing* :)

LLS, although I love what you currently have, you should seriously consider making this your tagline until the end of the convention. It is hysterical, and quite apt. :)

Boehner and McConnell have to be CFR lap dogs. Their job is to keep down the people who have real spirit, the powers that be can’t let the people actually believe they have the power.

With all due respect (in a positive sense) I grew up all over the world to include some time in New England and more than just a few weeks. In living the local cultures`in this country, far east, middle east and Europe, I have come to appreciate what each has to offer as well as seeing the warts of the same. I use these experiences to evaluate all I encounter and am far richer for it.

So to being a native born Texan, of a Midwestern father and a German Bavarian mother I can see the world just a bit differently as most. I appreciate your compliment and I implore you to not give up on your state, whichever it is, (just kidding).

I am taking a day off from my business to participate as a poll worker for the Florida primary tomorrow. I purposely volunteered to work a precinct that is heavily Democrat and minority because I can honestly use my life experiences to interact with the people there in which they can take me seriously as I project an attitude of respect, no matter how much we differ on ideology.

I have learned that I will never change their minds by “telling: them what the truth is but instead use my skills of language to simply ask them questions I know they will not answer to me but they cannot hide from themselves. basically, a Johnny Appleseed approach to political and societal problems. just plant the seed and watch it grow.

I thought both your posts were excellent and very thought-provoking, especially your post 159 about Sarah’s voice. I’ve been a total supporter of hers for four years, and more than one person in agreement with me has mentioned her voice being shrill - even a dear friend in Texas (and if a Texas woman’s voice can’t shatter glass, nothing can - I mean that as humor, not unkindness) Sarah’s voice never bothered me at all, but you made very good points.

Welcome to FR, by the way - I see you’re rather new, and I think you’re a good addition.

Sarah speaking at Romney’s convention would be like Led Zeppelin opening for the Monkees.

Jimi Hendrix did open for the Monkees, more than once. It wasn't pretty.

It's well known that there is bad blood between Palin and Romney. I expect Palin to campaign hard in House and Senate races, and for that campaigning to have coattails that help Romney/Ryan.
