I’m guessing and hoping it’s Ryan but I’d be fine with MCDonnell.
Rubio, Pawlenty, Christie, Portman—No, I don’t want any of these 4.

“Geographically, yes, and the both joined the Confederacy. They USED to be Southern states.”
LOL. Everywhere I go in “The South” I meet refugees from CA or the NE. There has been a huge demographic shift in the last 10-15 years. Outside of politics, suburbia is pretty much the same from coast to coast now. There is even a Trader Joe’s in South Carolina now!

[ I’m here in FL and trust me Ryan is not liked at all even by life long republicans who do work for the GOP. ]
huh? Why? He’s a very likable guy, imo.

I’d be disappointed in those 4, as well.

Thanks, Hope and lodi90.

And PGHBaldy — Greta’s a bloodhound .. if she’s reporting that about the SS at Ryan’s .. I’d have a hard time doubting it, unless it’s a masking fakeout. Thanks!

Greta just said on twitter that if its not Ryan than she has been fooled and it would take a lot for her to be fooled
To: hope
I can confirm that I was just contacted and I’m not the pick, either.
To: STARWISE
Apparently Greta did remove that tweet.

Sure would like it to be Ryan. Historically, though (except for the GOP in 2008), it always seems to turn out to be some boring Party hack that supposed to help with the swing States, but that nobody else ever heard of.

A McDonnell pick would just keep the Chick-Fil-A type stuff going and going and going, which it is abundantly clear that Romney has no interest in.
And McDonnell’s thesis would be used to continue to hammer away at female support for Romney.

From Catholic Vote today:
Paul Ryan, Representative from Wisconsin's 1st District
Life
Co-sponsored the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.
Voted to amend the health care law so that no federal funds may be used to pay for any part of any healthcare plan that offers abortion coverage.
Voted for the Abortion Pain Bill and the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act.
Voted to prohibit partial birth abortion.
Marriage
Voted for a resolution proposing a constitutional amendment that would define marriage as the union between one man and one woman.
Voted against repealing Dont Ask Dont Tell.
Religious liberty
Voted for the Religious Liberty Protection Act of 1999.
On the HHS mandate: This is much, much bigger than about contraception. This is about religious freedom, First Amendment rights, and how this progressive philosophy of fungible rights of a living breathing constitution really clashes and collides with these core rights that we built our society and country around.
Embryonic life
Voted against the Stem Cell Research Act of 2007, which would have required the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct and support research on embryonic stem cells.
Voted in favor of developing methods to produce stem cells without using human embryos.
School choice
Voted in favor for school vouchers in Washington, D.C.

Catholic Vote on Bob McConnell today:
Bob McDonnell, Governor of Virginia
Life
During 15 years as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, McDonnell supported 35 bills to restrict abortion. McDonnell opposes abortion with no exceptions.
Signed a bill requiring doctors to perform ultrasounds on women before they can receive abortions.
Helped lead the effort in the House to prohibit late-term partial birth abortion and successfully fought to enact parental notification and informed consent laws.
Marriage
Chief sponsor and author of a constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman.
Religious liberty
Signed into law a proposal to provide faith-based adoption and foster care agencies explicit conscience protections so that they will not be required to place children with homosexual couples.
Gov. McDonnell said on CNN that the HHS mandate was a great expansion of the federal governments powers. If it does not respect individual religious views and makes groups or individuals do things which are contrary to their deeply-help religious beliefs, theres going to be a visceral negative reaction.
Embryonic life
Proposed a budget amendment in Virginia to ban taxpayer funding of embryonic stem cell research.
School choice
More school choices for parents and students mean more accountability and greater achievement. A childs educational opportunity should be determined by her intellect and work ethic, not by her ZIP Code.
Proposed tax credits for private businesses that contribute to a scholarship fund for children from low-income families to attend private schools.

The thing that is so great about Ryan is that he will refocus the campaign like a laser beam back on the economy. That’s Obama’s worse nightmare and he’ll live it every day from now until Nov. 6th! LOL! GO RYAN!!!
To: All; STARWISE
OK .. what are the downsides of Ryan? Would really like an informed opinion He has never run a business. He has no executive experience, no state or local experience either. In fact, other than spending most of his adult life in the House he hasn't done a lot except work for relatives.
He's only 42. He never served his country.
His wife is a tax attorney.
His father (when Paul was 16), grandfather and great grandfather all died of heart attacks in their 50s.
He's been Obama's whipping boy since Republicans captured the House. He was "featured" throwing grandma over a cliff in a New York race over the Mediscare reform plan. This will not go over well in MUST WIN FL.
Neither man has foreign policy experience so Ryan offers nothing there.
He won't help Romney win Wisconsin.
Ryan is smart and articulate but lacks the kind of depth in experience you'd expect from a modern running mate.
If he's the choice, I'm baffled and I say this as someone who likes Paul Ryan.
To: smoothsailing
You are so right...if the Dems want to tear apart Ryan’s economic plan...have at it!
The economy, economy, economy.
As long as its the topic...we win!!
