....The polls suggesting hes seven or nine points behind are surely wrong, but given that there is only one national poll that shows him ahead, we have to presume Romney is behind. He should presume hes behind. And given that theres no good reason whatever for Obama to be leading, one can only presume that Romneys strategy in July and now in August is not working.
Which is why the we only talk about the economy line, while superficially clever, was and is so foolishstupid, even. Of course Romney wants to focus on that one issue. Its the one that hurts Obama the most, and the one on which he seems to score the best. He and his team have an idea about the campaign. They need to win independents to win. Independents are less ideological. So dont press the ideological buttons. Keep it simple....
Romney and his people prefer this strategy because its what is most comfortable to them. He is not, at root, an ideological person. Neither, at root, are they. And the data suggest this is not a time for a sharply ideological campaign. The data suggest Romney needs to run as Mr. Fix-It. That is how Romney prefers to view himself. So the two match perfectly.
Alas for him, thats not how it works. If conservative ideology is a problem with some independents, it also has the virtue of providing those who use it to discuss the nations problems with a pulse. Romney has just learned over the past few weeks that he cannot limit the discussion to the topics he wishes to talk about, especially when his rival is spending $100 million trying to destroy him in the swing states and when the media are largely serving his [0bama's] purposes....

Romneybots should be embarrassed.
^ THIS ^
He is a LOSING candidate, and that makes him PERFECT for the DNC.
Mitt Romney wins much coveted Jimmy Carter endorsement
Gore Praises Romney's 'Climate Protection Plan'
Carville(D):
"It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing.
Romney is an ascendant guy."
Sen. John Kerry (D) to Don Imus on RomneyCARE:
"I like this health care bill".
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D) on RomneyCARE:
"To come up with a bipartisan plan in this polarized environment is commendable."
Mitt and his people are tone deaf. Blew an opportunity during the Chick-Fil-A instance to declare conservative values and back people’s rights. A great opportunity to attack the left as intolerant and unconstitutional A-holes.
Should have attacked Rahm et al on the idea they could “deny” a business license due to a personal belief. Isn’t this kind of difference you would DIE to point out?
Another HUGE mistake, in my opinion, was the initial response to the LYING AD with that jerk “husband” who let his wife die.
MASSIVE opportunity to hammer the left. Instead, his stupid spokesperson said, “we’ll, if he lived in MA, she’d have been covered under Romneycare”.
REALLY? Lame, lame and beyond lame.
Hard to tell since I didnt vote for Obama. I held my nose to vote for McCain. I won’t be holding my nost to vote for Romney but will be ringing my hands. Our nation will fail with another Deomcrat President. I am still trying to figure out how Obama makes mandates for everything and no one in congress stops him. seems to me the balance of power is lost.
>> Gallup poll: Two thirds of Americans not ready for a Mormon president
Did Gallup do a poll on how ready America is to be destroyed by a full-blown marxist totalitarian who thinks *he’s* god? If so, how did it come out?
Here is a report on how well the Romney strategy is working.
On Wednesday, I drove from Central Virginia to Western Maryland. On Friday I returned — 250 miles up and 250 miles back.
I drove through three states: Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.
I drove on Interstate highways and I drove on local streets and roads.
During that entire trip, I saw no Romney bumper stickers — not one. I saw only one Romney lawn sign — just one.
Something is terribly wrong with the Romney campaign.
I realize that all too well. However, I'll still wait until September before I start worrying.
I have seen this movie before ... in 1996 with Dole ... in 2008 with McCain.
Gutless politicians are gutless.
Republicans are gutless.
This was from 2006. Obama wasn’t on the radar. I’ll take a mormon over a muslim, but not by much.
It is utterly mind boggling that Mittens is doing so badly against probably the most dangerous, most socialist, most Marxist, most dictator like President in the history of this country and he can't even manage more that a couple or points or so swap back and forth from week to week for the lead with the greatest liar and crook this country has ever known in the WH.
It is so incredible that he isn't running away with the poll numbers instead of just barely keeping his eyebrows even with the water line every so often, or put another way, floundering in shallow water. He is going to fool around and let Obama win. The more folks learns about Mittens the less they like him. When liberals have a choice between a real liberal like Obummer and a liberal RINO like Romney it is no small wonder who they are going to choose. And conservatives don't trust or like him!
There is just too much about Romney that makes our side of the aisle either sick at their stomachs or very ill at ease. He is shaping up to be Obamas near equal in philosophy it would appear. Not much real difference between the two, IMHO.
You are right, the entire country deserves what is happening to it, not just Republicans. Because the vast majority of voters voted for Obama and probably will again, but the vast majority of all Americans don't care enough to vote for their leaders at all. (In the recent Ted Cruz election that was all over the news all over the country, expected voter turnout was 12%, it might have turned out a little higher than that in the end, but not much)
Well his new ad shows that it was an outright lie about the woman’s death BUT you are correct the initial response by his spokesperson was pathetic and a perfect example of mouthing off before investigating the real situation
And outside of his conservative fan base, Gingrich was loathed. Think a candidate can win without independents? Think again. What we needed was a candidate who appealed to both conservatives and the mushy middle (the mushy middle who decide elections) just as Obama appealed to liberals and the mushy middle. That's how elections are won.
Right now Romney needs to pull it together. Fortunately, we as a nation have a short attention span and there's time for Romney to refocus and put his missteps behind him. And with the price of gas going up seemingly by the hour, he needs to do it now.
Trust me, there are a ton of Government employees who want nothing to do with King Bozo Overhead cam.
I couldn’t care less about him being a Mormon. Unfortunately he’s a liberal and moron to boot.
If that's true, Romney's doing a much more terrible job than I thought.
If somebody wants Romney to lose (especially with the situation this nation is in right now) he's obviously doing a terrible job convincing the American people that he can do a better job than Obama.
That statement of yours: Some of you WANT Obama to win is very telling about candidate Romney.
They need to win independents to win.
And Romney thinks he needs to move left to find those independents. The only independents left of Romney are Obama’s posse. There are however at least seven or eight million independents well to Romney’s right. They are commonly referred to as the base. With the bases approval Romney would be ahead at least five points.
Come on RNC, throw that socialist idiot under the bus and nominate some one who can take it to the marxist.
Yep, the advice from Podhoretz helped defeat obuma in 2008. We all need to listen to Podhoretz because he’s a bloody genius.
It is not about Mr. RomneyCARE’s religion.
It is about Mr. RomneyCARE’s severe lying about
his absent conservatism.
