I received this and not sure when it was taken but as you can see, non-sand tanks heading toward LA through Burbank.

this was recorded on the morning august 6th 2012.The above is from the YouTube summary.
When I lived in Seattle for several decades, every now and then I’d be slowed down by a HUGE military convoy on the freeway going somewhere.
I would think a train would be the most effective method to move tanks.
Gee I wonder if they’d notice if one just sorta “fell off” the train? :-D
I find it curious that the youtube has background music.
Somehow it seems less spontaneous.
It’s about time
I saw a whole bunch of Bradley’s and one Abrams. Not exactly “hundreds of tanks”.
They’re either going to Fort Irwin or Fort Bliss, Texas, for training out in the desert. No big deal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90HiVD2IKOE&feature=endscreen for what it is worth!
Maybe heading somewhere like Lima Ohio for upgrades/retrofits? There’s a tank plant there that was always pretty busy back in the 80’s doing stuff like that.
Probably a National Guard unit on their way to annual training. Rail movement is as much a part of training as tactics, live firing, & maintenance.
Interesting that they’re woodland camo & not desert, tho.
When I was in college in 1973 our geography class took a field trip to Mobile. While there we visited the Alabama state docks.
To our surprise there were literally hundreds of tanks and other armored vehicles. I am not exaggerating at all.
Our professor asked a couple of us to check with one of the ships and see where they were going. It turned out they were going to Israel.
Why are some people so convinced that any movement of military assets within the CONUS is some prelude to the Great Citizen Purge?
This is how armored units have moved for decades when they needed to train on large scale operations.
The NCTC in Fort Irwin where many of these units train annually was instrumental in training our troops to run roughshod over the Iraqis in Desert Storm. NCTC cadre are specifically trained and employ former Warsaw Pact TOE (Troops, Organization, Equipment) in order to better train our troops.
Are there Chick-Fil-A franchises in California (requiring a show of strength to reinforce San Francisco values)?
Getting troops and military stuff ready in case of Israeli/Iranian BIG SCUFFLE?
The U.S. exports tons and tons of these things. Given that it was in Burbank, CA, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they were being shipped to one of Southern California’s many ports to be shipped to somewhere in South America or the Pacific Rim.
BTW, I remember seeing a similar video posted many months ago. So I’m not buying that this happened this week.
Plus, the poster is clearly an obsessed conspiracy theorist who reposts a lot of videos. Posting for the pageviews and a few bucks from YouTube.
What is a “non-sand” tank?
Tons of stuff coming back from the ME. I’ve noted many trains eastbound toward Ft. Wood. Nothing to be alarmed about.
“Additional information”?
Well, google “National Interstate and Defense Highways Act of 1956” next time you want to get worked up over military convoys on the roads, then extrapolate to the more sensible use of railroads for large movement of heavy equipment.
I suppose your video COULD mean “something’s up!” but really, what are they supposed to do - manufacture tanks on each base as needed?
“Large-scale Use of Internet Bandwidth by US Military” or “Frequent Use of Domestic Radio Frequency Broadcasts by Army” would make about as alarming a YouTube video.
