Italian daily newspaper Il Giornale chose a deeply provocative headline for Friday's front page: 'Quarto Reich'Fourth Reich, to comment on Germany's refusal to give the European Central Bank more leeway.
Il Giornale is a right-wing newspaper owned by Silvio Berlusconi's brother Paolo. "Since yesterday, Italy is no longer in Europe; it is in the Fourth Reich," writes the newspaper's editor-in-chief, Alessandro Sallusti, who writes that Germany has won, but Italy, Europe and the euro have lost after European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi.

“The fact is that EU needs Germany more than Germany needs the EU and it could leave, restore its own sovereignty and survive while the countries around it wouldnt survive 5 minutes without getting bailed out.”
Not true. Germany needs these EU nations depreciating the currency to meet their mercantilist goals.
LOL. “Loans” that could not be had at true market conditions (otherwise, what’s the whole point of these ECB “loans”?) = free money. “Loans” that will likely never be repaid = free money.
How about you loan me $50k at 1% and I promise to never pay you back? And if you don’t, well, I’ll call you a NAZI.
“Just about every post third reich government has been called the fourth reich.”
And just about every thread on almost any subject will at some point mention Hitler. So tedious and shallow.
How is it imperialism for Germany to tell the Euro banks that they are not going to finance the bloated socialist policies of the rest of Europe anymore.
Repeated promises of fiscal tightening have been broken. It is long past time that Germany got tough.
And what would an Imperialist nation want with a bunch of countries with populations that would rather riot for free stuff from the government than work?
That is precisely what they've been telling Europe to do for decades, especially when it comes to their own socialism. And they haven't been financing anything; they've been giving out loans. Read the treaties and what they entail.

Their strategic value. If they control them, then they become a big world power. The price for all the loans is their sovereignty.

The loans are financing the socialist policies of Italy.
Its not a loan if you dont get paid back.
Italy hasnt been paying the loans back they have just been going back for more.
The price for all the loans is their sovereignty.
Sounds like a lesson the US should take heed of doesnt it.
So now it indeed looks like you’re back to justifying imperialism. I told you what the price for the loans is; they’ve merely yet to pay it. That’s why Italy has people like Monti installed by the EU; he’s on board with the program of total centralization.
And as for the USA, they actually respect countries’ sovereignty instead of trying to take them over via economic arm-twisting and socialism. For better or worse, the USA’s forgiven a lot of foreign debt. Don’t expect the EU and those who run it to do the same, even when they yell at the USA to do so.
No I am saying that the US is borrowing money to finance our socialist programs and that sooner rather than later a certain nation that we borrow from will be dictating terms to us.
Nothing, I was just thinking however that it made them nearly perfect democrats.
Only imperfection being that they can't vote 8 or 9 times in a given election.
Give obama time on that one though.
No disagreement there.
