Via the Daily Caller, I couldnt agree more. What possible reason is there to exclude her? Shes the reining vice presidential nominee; she gives a hell of a speech; shes on a major roll in helping tea-party candidates win their Senate primaries; and she has a passionate base thats lukewarm at best about Romney.
If Team Mitt can find a slot for Rand Paul in the interest of keeping Paul fans inside the tent, they can find one for Palin in the interest of keeping her supporters inside. The only argument I can think of for why they might be lukewarm about her is that putting her back in the convention spotlight will further raise her profile, which might come back to bite Romney if Palin emerges as a major critic of his from the right during his first term. But thats likely to happen anyway if he governs from the center, and shes already sufficiently famous that the convention spotlight wont do anything, really, to add to her platform.
Hes better off making nice and showing her some respect. Itll make conservatives happy and wont alienate anyone except the most Frum-ian Palin critics. Seems like an easy call to me.
Or Newt?
The only one that really fires me up.
Because maybe they don’t care?
None of the true conservatives will be allowed to speak (Palin, Gingrich, and several others).
They’ve written us off. Pity, because I got out a lot of votes for their stinky loser McCain the last time around after Palin was nominated.
Not going to happen this time, and I think they know that we’re burned out. They’re not even going to pretend to promote any conservative this time around.
I’m getting the feeling that Romney does not want a campaign about conservatism...which is something Palin would talk about. He wants to stress the bad economy thanks to Obama’s wayward policies, but he doesn’t want to tell the country why conservatism is superior to liberalism. In short: he wants to run a safe campaign. He can run the welfare state better than Obama. Not much to cheer about that kind of campaign.
Palin dwarfs the GOP-e and she can’t be controlled. That’s a problem for Team Mitt.
Why?
Answer: She will show how really dull the candidates are.
They are as petty as anyone ever imagined them to be and they will never admit they threw the election.
Accurate assessment.
“What possible reason is there to exclude her...”
Her presence reminds the RinoCracy, that in the end, they REQUIRE the consent of We the People to enjoy their perks in the city We pay for...Washington DC.
I think the reason she hasn’t been invited is because she has stood strong and has NOT endorsed romney in any way except abo. AND she is backing downballot conservatives who will fight him tooth and nail.
She could be the next generation of conservatism. They are threatened by that. If I were her; I would not trust them. I would only trust my closest confident.
Romney and the gop-e, will look like back markers and they know it.
Palin and Newt need to be invited to speak...
There’s a story that Marianne Faithfull once told - about the ‘release’ party the Rolling Stones held for their 1968 l.p. Beggar’s Banquet...
She said the Stones were REALLY feeling good, they’d come out with a strong album and they were feeling great about the band... then, in came Paul McCartney to the party - with an acetate of the Beatles next single - “Hey Jude”.
Single handedly KILLED the party for the Stones.
Sarah Palin showing up and speaking at this year’s RINO convention would have the SAME effect.
What’s scary about Romney already is what he’s not saying during his campaign, and what he won’t allow conservatives to say.
If he were a true Conservative Obama would be picking buckshot out of his ass by now. This is another John McLame strategy.
If the GOP ever turns conservative, I and many others will financially support it again.
Right now, I feel that I would be throwing my money in a black hole if I were to respond to all the GOP petitions that I receive in the mail.
If you want people to watch your convention, you’d think you would invite the one person that would be your biggest draw. If I were romney, yuck! oh the thought, yucky poo, cough, choke, ... I wouldn’t just invite Sarah Palin to speak, I’d beg her to come every day and mingle with the crowd. Because I would want the excitement that she brings with her by just being herself.
That's it. How many Americans remember Palin's last convention speech fondly? How many other speeches from four years ago are even remembered? Keeping her off the podium is a good idea if we want the nominee to even be noticed.
