It's probably safe to say that the seven major speakers announced overnight will not be Romney's vice presidential pick. Those speakers are: South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Arizona Sen. John McCain, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
Now, speculation can focus on who's conspicuously absent from that list as the Republican presidential candidate prepares to unveil his nominee likely before the Tampa convention, to be held Aug. 27-30.
Those not on the list, and presumably in the running for running mate, include: Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

Darn wireless keyboard. That’s Cain...and August
Will Mitt pick Jeb? I mean, it’s *his* turn, isn’t it?
McCrap really?
Dump McCain for Christ’s sake. There is nothing that man has to say that I want to hear except for “I’m retiring”.
And Kasich shouldn’t be up there either.
According to Gov. McDonnell, he and Mitt are scheduled to campaign together all day this coming Saturday. Hmmm.....
Heavens no, we don't want to do anything to encourage Buckeyes to vote Republican. /s
It should be Rubio. If you look at all the poll breakdowns, Romeny has improved in all voter group over 2008 presidential race and even the 2010 congressional race. In groups he hasn’t improved over 2008 and 2010 (notatably Blacks, the enthusiasm gap is way down. The big exception is the Hispanic vote. That is why his nomination makes sense.
LLS
Pick Ryan Mitt, show you are serious about doing something not just being a business as usual good old boy GOP Establishment water boy
There are going to be LOTS more speakers. This was just the first ones announced.
Leaves, Portman, Ryan, McDonnell, & Jindal from that list. (long shot)
Also add Santorum to the mix. - He isn't out of consideration.
I'm sympatico with you, but my understanding is that The Tradition at conventions is for unsuccessful nominees from four years ago get a prominent speaking slot as a courtesy. Frankly I think that McCain should do what the largely classy (if far too liberal in office) W has done by simply saying Thank You and bowing OUT of the spotlight. It's bad enough that we have the 2012 nominee we do.
No way does Romney pick Jeb Bush. This isn’t the stupid party.... oh, wait....
...It should be Rubio.
Red Herring. - Its not going to be Rubio and it never was.
Rubio himself has so stated repeatedly right here in Florida.
That idea is a fabrication of his well wishers.
Only these VP picks help Mitt win major & essential electoral votes:
Rubio
Portman
McDonnell
However I would prefer Newt, West, Cain, Palin or even Huckster.
Would love to see Romney pick Gov. Luis Fortuno of Puerto Rico. He’s done on P.R. what needs to be done in D.C. Pro Growth and downsizing of the Government. And the Dims would have a coronary. A far better pick than Sen. Rubio.
I think it’s going to be Pawlenty.
Why is Captain Queeg on the speaker’s list? What does that hypocrite liberal ass kisser and 2008 loser add to our convention? The only person who is in love with the sound of McCain’s voice is McCain. Maybe he will devote his speech to the missing quart of strawberries... LOL
