The Philadelphia Eagles team said a prayer before its Sunday morning practice, and observers noted that head coach Andy Reid was not present at the team's walk-through. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman announced that he would make a brief statement after practice, at which time he announced that Reid's 29-year-old son, Garrett, was found dead on Sunday morning in his room at the team's Lehigh, Pa., facility.

"I have some heartbreaking news to share with you all," Roseman said in the statement. "It is with great sadness that I tell you that Garrett Reid, the oldest son of coach Reid, was found dead this morning in his room here in training camp. It is a tough morning for all of us in the Eagles family. Garrett grew up with this team, and that makes this news even harder for us to process. Our hearts go out to Andy, Tammy, Britt, Spencer, Crosby and Drew Ann. Coach has spent the morning informing his family

In all probablility, the cause of death of this young man is connected to his history of illicit drug abuse.

I read that he had a drug problem. I’m betting that’s what caused his death.

Regardless, I am very sorry to hear that. It’s tragic. Prayers for Coach Reid and his family.

In his early 20s, Garrett Reid said he “got a thrill” out of being a drug dealer in a lower-income neighborhood just a few miles from his parents’ suburban Villanova mansion.

“I liked being the rich kid in that area and having my own high-status life,” Reid told a probation officer, according to court testimony in November 2007. “I could go anywhere in the ‘hood. They all knew who I was. I enjoyed it. I liked being a drug dealer.”

At his sentencing hearing, Garrett Reid told the judge: “I don’t want to die doing drugs. I don’t want to be that kid who was the son of the head coach of the Eagles, who was spoiled and on drugs and OD’d and just faded into oblivion.”

I have gone through the normal problems with my kids, but nothing like this. My prayers go out to Andy Reid and his wife.

Sad. Too bad so many find taking drugs such a wonderful thing. Gunrunner.....shameful that you accept this. He started with smoking pot and went from their.....Rest in peace Reid family.

Didn’t they lose another son to a drug overdose several years ago?

Nobody is buying your crocodile tears, nap. We all know that you think that anyone who has ever been in the presence of marijuana is a "felon".

It's also clear to anyone who has read your wildly ignorant and outrageous posts that you are most likely relishing in the death of Garrett Reid as he was "just another felon" who was "breaking the law".

Another victim of the naps/Obama-supported War on Drugs, where people's dangerous addictions are treated as criminal matters rather than matters of health.

You and Obama should be proud Nappy; heckuva job.
