Chick-fil-A ‘Kiss In’ Counter-Protest Was Sort of a Bust
New York Magazine ^ | 8/4/2012 | Caroline Bankoff

While Wednesday's Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day inspired an apparently record-setting number of people to display their commitment to bigotry by waiting in line for fast-food sandwiches, the demonstration designed to protest it — Friday's National Same Sex Kiss Day — turned out to be less of a draw.

Organizers expected a couple hundred protesters to converge on New York's single (and closed for the summer) Chick-fil-A outpost, located in NYU's Weinstein dining hall, at 8 p.m. Unfortunately, we're having trouble finding reports on the event besides that of the New York Post's Andrea Peyser (frequently to be taken with a grain of salt), who wrote that only about 20 people showed up for the demonstration and that "just three pairs of guys kissed on the street." We expect more Chick-fil-A backlash there come fall, when the University's generally calorie-conscious and gay-friendly students get back into town. (An NYU spokesman has already promised to "reexamine" the chain's presence on campus.)

Outside of New York, the National Same Sex Kiss Day founder hoped to see at least 15,000 people demonstrating at the restaurant's 1,600 locations. Again, the numbers seem to have fallen short: In Decatur, Georgia, about two dozen demonstrators gathered outside a Chick-fil-A bearing McDonald's bags, rainbow flags, and signs

Ernst Rohm would be ashamed to see what his fabulous militant homosexual movement has been reduced to. Come on! Swappin’ spit and playing tonsil hockey at the local Chick-fil-A? The pastel Nazis just don’t have what it takes anymore.

“commitment to bigotry”? Believing the Bible is bigotry to the left. It wouldn’t be Christian to write what I am thinking.

What an obnoxious and arrogant and presumptuous article. “Commitment to bigotry?” So no one is entiteld anymore to stand for traditional marriage? And you are shocked that the counter-protest fizzled? Why? It couldn’t match Aug 1 so they lost their momentum:

Yes it was. But at just 2-3% of the population, there's no way they can compete with us. They make a lot of noise, but it's just bluster.

Crow tastes awful. Especially when you have to eat it so publicly.
Sure doesn't taste much like chicken. More like putrefied buzzard meat.

speaking out publicly in support of traditional marriage was the biggest thing to hit chicken sandwich sales in the history of fast food. if wendy’s and burger king are smart, they will condemn gay marriage next week.

Yes, there will be weeks of increased sales, but the government crackdown will continue until they get put out of business...

Curtis Sliwa was funny yesterday. He set up a remote hoping to see some hot lesbian kissing action and didn’t get any.

Let’s tally up...

Tea Party — Huge on-going success
“Coffee Party” — Dismal failure and never heard of again

CFA Appreciation Day — Huge (and probably on-going) success
“Kiss-In” Day — Total flop

9/12/09 Protest on the Mall — Colossal success
“Occupy” Protests — Murder, disease, rioting, rape, defecation, drugs and bedlam

WE are the clearly the honest, clean, righteous, God-fearing, patriotic, self-reliant, moral and vast majority. Yet our country keeps slipping from our grasp to the parasites and tyrants.

To repeat what I posted on an earlier thread...

"The silliest thing was to make the counter-demonstration a "kiss-in". It would've been bad enough to have protest rallies, which wouldn't have matched the size and scope of the people who purchased meals, but at least it would have given the opposition reason to stand around all day and wait for favorable press.

But by making it a "kiss-in", many of the of the supporters who might be vocal but aren't ready to put their mouths were other mouths are get excluded from the protest, leaving stray couples to walk up and snap a photo to uploaded to reddit or facebook. Not the stuff of evening news footage.

And to repeat an earlier line: the traffic was backed up for minutes. If that. If anyone even noticed. Good thing for the digital age or no one would've known it had happened at all.

Why is it okay for them to be militant about being gay but it’s bigotry when we say it’s against nature? Free speech for them but not for us?

The fastest way to kill this thinking is private school vouchers. Kill government schools. And, yes, where they’re concerned, I’m a super-sized bigot.
