Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is putting on a blitz for Missouri Republican Senate candidate Sarah Steelman after endorsing her two weeks ago.
The 2008 vice presidential candidate is appearing with Steelman at a barbecue in Cleveland, Missouri near Kansas City Friday. This represents Palin's first campaign appearance with Steelman since the endorsement, CNN reports. Palin appeared in an ad and recorded a robocall for Steelman earlier this week.
Palin has high praise for the former state treasurer: "Sarah is an economist who defends our tax dollars like a mama grizzly defends her cubs," Palin said.
Right back at you, the candidate says. "I am so grateful to have Gov. Palin's support, and very excited to say she will be coming into Missouri to participate in this BBQ," Steelman said in a statement. "I know she will excite folks to come out and take a strong stand against the status quo."
Steelman faces a hotly-contested primary Tuesday against businessman John Brunner and Rep. Todd Akin. The winner takes on vulnerable Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill. A recent Mason-Dixon poll showed Brunner leading with 33 percent support, followed by Steelman with 27 percent, and Akin with 17 percent.
Palin has a perfect endorsement record for Senate primaries this year. She backed winners Orrin Hatch in Utah, Deb Fischer in Nebraska, and Ted Cruz in Texas.
As for Steelman, the Tea Party Express also supports her. It sent out an appeal for donations Thursday saying, "With all of the political world's focus on the Senate election in Texas, which resulted in Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz's victory, the Missouri race has been over-shadowed. We are sounding the alarm that the election is this Tuesday."

Just what I would expect from an Obama supporter.
You stated “Brunner is far in the lead.” What specific poll are you citing? The Mason-Dixon poll done for the StL. Post-Dispatch?
I rest my case
See ya then.
I guess you are a little shook up.
I think your post to me was intended for donozark
Here, I’ll ping him for you
I was referring to the Senate race in WI, where Santorum
is backing someone different. I should have clarified.
My bad.
Maybe Steelman should have done an in-house poll? Then again, she didn't have $8 million of her own $ to invest in her own campaign and self-serving polls as Brunner did.
You asked for a poll. I gave you six.
You want a poll that says Sarah is winning, therefore you dismiss the poll that says she's not.
Sounds like a personal problem to me.
But I would agree with you, the only poll that counts is Tuesday. And if Brunner wins by 20 points? I'll eat my hat...Ain't gonna happen.
All my conservative friends are voting for Brunner. I don’t know anyone who is voting for the other two. I suspect a lot of conservative women will vote for Steelman out of sexism.
Most of the Tea Party Express rallies I've been to, where Steelman was present had more men than women. Sexism always plays a part, but not overwhelmingly so in this case.
Look, we're on the same team here. Just disagreeing on starting pitchers...
Thanks for the info.
I never put much stock in polls, so many of them are skewed with the demographic or the cleverly worded questions that can’t be answered with what a poll taker’s real position is.
Most contests are decided by who has the most money.
Look at the millions Romney spent to destroy Conservative contenders, especially compared with what he is spending to exposer Obama.
He won’t touch the Muslim Brotherhood question, and won’t weigh in on the Chick Fil A situation either.
The latter probably because of his bizarre ideas on marriage that he has to believe in order to stay firmily planted in the LDS belief system.
He’s also a behind-the-scenes vicious backstabber, usually having his henchmen do the heavy lifting so he still looks clean and articulate.
Back to Missouri...Ma McCaskill has raised over $10 million since 2006. She has over $6 Million in her campaign coffers. And she has not really started to campaign yet! She will get ton$ more via unions, Hollywoodies, liberal orgs. and hucksters.
And Ma benefited greatly by the Republican opponents slicing/dicing each other..
I think Dewhurst hurt himself by spending millions of his own $$$$ on negative ads that backfired.
LOL good post. Destroying strawman statements!
I was at several tea parties with Mourdock speaking and lots of his supporters in attendance
Money should NOT be such a deciding factor in elections.
That and fraud should be curtailed.
Thanks Dodd (Dud?) and Frank (furter?)
Info for all:
Palin hopes to extend winning streak with Missouri endorsement
Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin though derided on the left and recently dismissed by former vice president Dick Cheney as a poor pick in 2008 is nevertheless proving her enduring power within the Republican Party in the most concrete of ways: She keeps picking winners. Each of five candidates she has endorsed this year who have faced primaries or other campaigns have won, including former Texas solicitor general Ted Cruz, who Tuesday beat the states well-connected lieutenant governor for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. In Palins biggest test yet as a kingmaker, she heads Friday to...Palin to stump for Steelman in Missouri
Sarah Palin will spend her Friday evening at a picnic in rural Missouri where she'll serve food with Sarah Steelman, aiming to give the former state treasurer a final leg up in one of the country's hottest primary races for U.S. Senate. Mrs. Steelman has spent the last few months in a fierce three-way battle for the GOP nomination with former Rep. Todd Akin and St. Louis businessman John Brunner. The winner will face Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in the fall. With only a few days left before Tuesday's primary, the candidates are canvassing the state...
I said "Brunner puts his money where his mouth is."
You said "Kind of like Dewhurst in Texas! I think Dewhurst hurt himself by spending millions of his own $$$$ on negative ads that backfired."
Sounds like hatred of "the rich" to me, spoken by someone who denies the obvious.
Steelman and Akin have been doing as much "negative advertising" as they can afford, but since they're both professional politicians they really have honestly earned that much.
You're just bitter that they haven't earned millions of their own money to buy more.
FYI, my comment addressed HOW Dewhurst spent his money...NOT that he spent it or how much he spent!
Get your FACTS straight, Bubba!!!
