Dont buy the doom and gloom pronouncements from conservatives telling you, this is the most important election in history. A loss for Mitt Romney would not necessarily spell long lasting disaster for Republicans, nor would it be the death-knell to conservatism. In fact, its possible a 2012 loss could lay the groundwork for a stronger Republican party and conservative movement.
Elections are almost always seen as urgent and morally imperative. But sometimes major victories can only come in the aftermath of what appear to be devastating defeats. John Kerrys loss in 2004 laid the groundwork for a Democratic takeover in 2006 and 2008, and Jimmy Carters defeat of Gerald Ford in 1976 paved the way for the Ronald Reagan in 1980. In other words, it is a mistake to assume losing a presidential election is a permanent defeat.
This should be the most important election since 1980, but so far it is not, says Reagan biographer Craig Shirley. Scottish historian Thomas Carlyle postulated the great man theory of history, and indeed this was true with Washington, Jackson, Lincoln, TR, FDR and Reagan. But history has not summoned forth great men in 2012 and in fact our history today is small.
This is not to say Republicans should concede the election, but conservatives should keep November in proper perspective.

The level of absurdity on FR is astounding anymore. How could anyone do anything that might get Obama re-elected? There are posters on this forum who I believe want Obama to win. I would vote for a lichen before I would vote for Obama. A liberal GOP-e like Romney would be 10 times better than Obama at his best. I’m not happy with Romney either, I was a Cain supporter, but I’d stick my hand in an unflushed toilet before I would do ANYTHING that might keep Hussein in the White House..
*shakes head* Flame away, I don’t care, it is INSANITY to even consider re-electing this criminal freaking marxist..
Which leads me to wonder if the author knows the two are NOT mutually inclusive.
The Republican party no longer does. Why should the author be any different?
“I stand with : Sarah Palin ,Michelle Bachmann,Rick Santorum, Herman Cain,Dick Cheney,George W, Rush.
I trust their judgment.”
Not choosing a tea party VP that is electable in 2016 is a kick in the balls for the conservatives. I get everyones point. Romney is a Clymer, and Obama a douche. I’ve heard arguments on both sides and get them both. If Romney wins, we possibly turns the reigns back to the libatards if/when Romney doesn’t pull a hat trick in four years.
If Obama wins you won’t see a conservative government in your lifetime or your childrens lifetimes or your childrens children etc. Not because of Obama but because the American voters will have made it plain that there is no turning back now from the abyss.
Tampa might get hit by a hurricane.
Just saying.
*popcorn*
The problem is, there won't be any point to a "Republican Party" or "conservative movement" anymore.
At the end of a second Obama term, there won't be a country LEFT.

Try shaking hands with Obama and Mittens. You’ll still get s*** on your hands, just from different ***holes.
I'm not worried about the Republicans or Conservatives I worried about the Republic. Obama, the administration and Democrat control of Congress has to go. If you don't understand that, you have bigger problems than I can begin to address.
I could NOT agree more. The biggest disaster for Conservatism will be Romney, NOT Obama. We will never, ever be able to fight Romney. The Tea Party will be completely marginalized. Romney will tack hard left and NO one will stop him whereas the House and Senate stop Obama.
Romney will be a DISASTER of epic proportions.
The title is so stupid I will not read the article.
Our Supreme Court is already a liberal one, but it will move off the charts to the Left if the Kenyan gets his second term.
Articles such as this one no doubt warm the hearts of our political enemies.

Considering the tea party was “awakened” under Obama, much like we were awakened by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor, it seems to me that Obama is the best friend the tea party have ever had. Mittens represents sleep and a return to political whoredom.
I much prefer the fight against Obama than the complacency of another stealth socialist, this time in the guize of a Republican.
You give Obama 4 more years and your fears about “mittens” will pale in comparison. I’m not a Mitt supporter by any means. In the past I’ve been pretty vocal about not nominating him.
You fear about all the things that he will do, knowing Obama will do his worst, every day, every chance he gets in those four years.
You fear Mittens will do things you fear, yet you never consider a strong continued vigilence in forcing him to stay on track. The vigilence of an increasingly conservative GOP congress, rooting out RINOs, and the potential to remove Reid et al.
Lastly, What does “Mormon” have to do with it? That crap belongs over in the religion thread where Elsie and Colornian can post, repost and repost again all their MormonISM spew.
This election isn’t about getting Romney INTO the White House.
It is about getting Barack Obama OUT of the White House.
Anyone who argues that Romney would be just as bad as Obama hasn’t been paying attention the last 3 1/2 years.
Make no mistake, this election is not about Romney. This election is about a mandate to flush away all the barriers that impede a return to strong conservative constitutional government and a thriving economy. I did not say radical conservative, or religious zealots, I said strong conservatives with integrity and honesty. Common sense people who understand that in a free market, supply will never create demand. Imposition of ideals or products should never be the province of government control. The socialist elite know this! It is too bad that the week minded “knit whits” that are manipulated by the elite’s rhetoric can’t figure it out. No matter though, if anyone was witness to the groundswell of support for Chik Fil A this last Wednesday they know that the silent majority has had ENOUGH! And we will all hear from them again in November.
