US Factory Goods Demand Falls Unexpectedly

Demand for US factory goods fell unexpectedly in June, reflecting a drop in corporate investment and the biggest decreases in non-durable goods orders for over three years.
Factory orders fell 0.5 per cent, compared with analysts expectations of a 0.7 per cent rise, US commerce department figures showed yesterday. Junes fall followed a downwardly revised 0.5 per cent increase in May, after sharp declines the two previous months.
Economists fear a slowdown in momentum, given that manufacturing had been regarded as the mainstay of a US economic recovery. The sector accounts for about 12 per cent of the economy.

The May US factory orders have been revised downwardly too...I never expected the 'factory good orders' was going to rise no matter what Democrat won the nomination in 2008.
The score: Me-1, (Democrat)Economist-0. But please hold the gold medal, I don't want the tax(can anyone tell me where that tax originated from?).

Democrats and their crack-pot economist trying to sell raising taxes will create an economic expansion. Wrong. It's simple logic, the more taxes on the private sector, the smaller the private sector.
Ask a Democrat supporter, if the IRS took 40% from your total income every quarter,
are you left with more options?

The heavy duty truck factory where I work has been on 3 day work weeks with the employees drawing unemployment on the other 2 days for the entire month of July. And they've already told us that August in more of the same. Maybe until the end of the year. That's about 2,000 people. Oh, and about 300 were layed-off.

Hehehehe, they are back to using the term unexpectedly. Have they ever stopped using it? If they did, I must have missed it. I seem to hear it used in every negative economic report.

The reason there was a slight rise in May was probably because people were buying graduation and wedding gifts and were getting ready for summer. It won’t go up again until they get the numbers for back to school sales. Anyone else notice there haven’t been the onslaught of back to school sales yet this year? The local businesses have been advertising but their prices are much higher than they were last year.
