MARTINSBURG - Police and fire crews closed down the Chick-fil-A on Foxcroft Avenue in Martinsburg for nearly three hours following a bomb threat that was called in just before 1 p.m. today.
The caller mentioned that a "device" had been placed within the restaurant. The building was evacuated, but was deemed safe at about 3:45 p.m. after no bomb or any other type of device was discovered.
Martinsburg City Police and the Martinsburg Fire Department personnel investigated the scene, along with Berkeley County Sheriff Kenny Lemaster. A National Park Ranger with a canine unit arrived at the scene at approximately 2:45 p.m. to assist, and a second from the West Virginia State Police arrived later as well.
According to a release from police, the location of the call was traced and the investigation is following up on leads about the male caller.
"We prosecute to the fullest extent that the law allows, for anyone making these types of threats," the release states.
The fast-food chain has come under fire recently for comments made by its president, Dan Cathy, to the Baptist Press. According to an Associated Press report, today has been declared "National Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" by supporters of traditional marriage. However, it is unknown at this time if the threat against the local restaurant is related.

Dont tell me that Shep will be out having a bite to eat at Chick-fil-A? /s
Ironic that Shep deemed today “National Intolerance Day” when those supporting his agenda are the ones threatening violence.
I doubt there will be anything of the sort on Friday when the homos have their pathetic protest day.
Walk-in traffic was all the way out the door, into the parking lot (which was full to overflowing).
This was at 3:00 in the afternoon, usually a dead time for restaurants.
Obviously, the call for boycott backfired big time, I'm not surprised the left is pulling dirty tricks...
Is there a protest scheduled at CFA on friday? What time?
I want to order a sandwich to go, carry it outside and eat it with relish in front of the protestors, laughing at them at the same time.
I hope I have lots of company.
That’s what I don’t get. Why is the Left beating this drum? Romney’s problem is getting his supporters to the polls, and the Left pulls this stunt? Its result is going to be to give one more reason for people to vote for Romney.
I think they got too arrogant, and too confident. They didn’t forsee this backlash.
2+2 = chicken! Perrrrrfect!
VERY nice that Øbama has recently proclaimed his support for the sodomizers, too.
There is your tolerance.
There was a Facebook thread from a local TV channel and I defended Chik-fil-A.... guess who is temporarily banned from making public comments after being reported as a spammer?
Would this be an alternate technique when it comes to SWATing a business?
Use RICO to bust up these interstate activists illegal plots.
i went yesterday, a day early. there are several of these places in maryland. i do not know if the locals mobbed them today. their chicken does not have quite the tangy savory pizzazz of kfc, but it is an excellent rendition of straight up southern fried.

and sexual deviants play domestic terrorist.
Interesting...
Coincidentally Shep Smith was using a cell phone the exact same time the bomb threat was reported.....
I hear the sandwiches there are the real bomb.
I live in Martinsburg. This Chick-fil-A has been crazy busy even the week before this event. I was there at 8am yesterday and waited in line.
Most local officials are union democrats. I’m not sure what their position on same-sex marriage is. A news reporter should ask them... instead of Dan Cathay or Carrie Underwood.
